Today we dined at the most delightful Persian restaurant called Persian QashQai in Sheffield. Its slightly off the beaten track of London Road, which is no bad thing! Our friends went a week earlier and insisted we try this place. Now i have recently eaten at Classic Persian in Bradford so the benchmark was quite high but this place edged it for me just on authenticity alone.
So my credentials of eating Persian food you may wonder? Are the many Persian restaurants I have dined in in london and my best friend is Persian so ive had my fair share of Persian home cooked meals.
So for the most important part...the food! The humous was delicious and homemade and the bread warm. For the mains, I had the aubergine and lentil curry with saffron rice and it was a delicious, so warming and perfectly seasoned. We also had the mixed grill with saffron rice, the lamb was tender and moist and again perfectly seasoned but the saffron chicken was the show stopper! the delicate saffron came through and again the chicken was moist and cooked to perfection, even my kids lapped it up. We ended the meal with a teapot of traditional chai, the cardamom and clove notes certainly came through and was the perfect end to a beautiful meal.
As you can see from the pics the food was beautifully presented in what can only be described as a metal sharing thali platter and a copper pot and the chai came with traditional cups.
The atmosphere was intimate with only may be 6 tables and the place decorated with typical ornate persian trinkets. You need to book in advance to secure a table and avoid...

I would have given 0 star if possible. The worst restaurant we have ever visited in Sheffield.
Food is not fresh and not tasty. The starters were not fresh at all, they seemed like canned products from ozmen just put in the microwave. We have been told by the waiter that we must try the rice because it is a special one, at the end, it was just boiled rice that anyone can make at home.
Everything is overpriced (prices are doubled). For example, their mix kebab of £20.99, you can get it half a mile away for just £10 and it is much more tasty. Normal chips sold elsewhere for £2, here is sold for £3.5. Naan bread that is provided with meals elsewhere here you need to pay for it.
The size of the skewers not as shown in the provided pictures and videos. When you see the pictures and videos, it seems to be double the size of the ones sold elsewhere (so you say the high price is justified) but at the end it was the...
Read moreQashqai Kitchen is truly one of Sheffield’s hidden gems. As long-time customers, we’ve always felt warmly welcomed by the family who runs this charming Persian restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and you can tell that each dish is prepared with care and authenticity. The flavors are rich, the spices are perfectly balanced, and the portions are generous—everything you’d hope for in a Persian meal.
Whether it’s their tender kebabs, fragrant rice dishes, or freshly baked bread, the food never fails to impress. While there may be occasional little hiccups, the overall experience is consistently fantastic. The owners are genuinely kind and make you feel like part of the family, which adds so much to the dining experience.
If you’re in Sheffield and want an authentic taste of Persian cuisine with a welcoming vibe, Qashqai Kitchen should definitely be at the top of your list. Highly...
