Rude, unfriendly manager on Barber Road, pastries are dry and tasteless, wouldnât bother going. Kicked out one person out of a group of 5 who just wanted water when everyone else paid. Wouldnât have cared as much if they were polite about it but they were not. Will not set foot here again.
Edit : The owner has clearly seen this review and you can see this from the literal essay response. I am not leaving a review to offend you or harm your business as a whole, itâs a system so that other people can understand the atmosphere and experience and so that you can learn, Iâm just saying although you thought you were polite Iâm saying it came across quite abrasive and aggressive to blatantly make me feel unwelcome just because you would rather have a table of 3 (who also sat studying with their laptops like my friends - where I thought there were 6 of us but as youâve made very very clear there were 5). It was very obvious that they were my friends and not some random people. If you wanted the table I could have easy moved up on the 4 or got a chair. Also just because I didnât buy a pastry doesnât mean I didnât try my friends and that they didnât have an opinion. I did write the initial review in the moment so I get that itâs maybe harsh but I do stand by the fact that you made me leave and it was a bit rubbish because we were there for my...
Read moreAbsolutely love this place! It's close to where my parents live, so I often go with my Mum and my kids. We've had a lot from the menu now - but my favourites are the Brunch Sandwich and my kids love the Maple and Bacon Pancakes. Today, I tried the Sheffield Fog drink (which is Early Grey with hot milk and vanilla) - it was absolutely delicious. Jo and Matt who run Chapter One, along with the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful - they are clearly proud of their café, and rightly so. It is worth booking for a Saturday lunchtime, but there are usually spaces at other times. The menu has lots of options and the quality of the food is extremely high - locally sourced and using...

Update: we came back and had two breakfasts, one veggie and one normal (pictured). Decent...
