Chapter One Coffee — Restaurant in Sheffield

Rude, unfriendly manager on Barber Road, pastries are dry and tasteless, wouldn’t bother going. Kicked out one person out of a group of 5 who just wanted water when everyone else paid. Wouldn’t have cared as much if they were polite about it but they were not. Will not set foot here again.

Edit : The owner has clearly seen this review and you can see this from the literal essay response. I am not leaving a review to offend you or harm your business as a whole, it’s a system so that other people can understand the atmosphere and experience and so that you can learn, I’m just saying although you thought you were polite I’m saying it came across quite abrasive and aggressive to blatantly make me feel unwelcome just because you would rather have a table of 3 (who also sat studying with their laptops like my friends - where I thought there were 6 of us but as you’ve made very very clear there were 5). It was very obvious that they were my friends and not some random people. If you wanted the table I could have easy moved up on the 4 or got a chair. Since I hadn’t been there for particularly long (less than half an hour) my plan was to either go and get some water or maybe a drink, but the tone that you took with me made me not want to. Absolutely love this place! It's close to where my parents live, so I often go with my Mum and my kids. We've had a lot from the menu now - but my favourites are the Brunch Sandwich and my kids love the Maple and Bacon Pancakes. Today, I tried the Sheffield Fog drink (which is Early Grey with hot milk and vanilla) - it was absolutely delicious. Jo and Matt who run Chapter One, along with the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful - they are clearly proud of their café, and rightly so. We have been here twice since it moved up to barber road. First time we got a take out coffee, second time we got hot drinks and toasted tea cakes.

The coffee is good and the rhubarb tea was delicious!!

The staff are very friendly and the service is good.

Looking forward to coming back here to try the brunch food, it all looked excellent on the other tables. Also keen to try the hot chocolates.
