I really wanted to like this place more as the atmosphere is really nice, and the staff are friendly, however it was disappointing. There were a few of us so I got to try a fair number of dishes. The starters were mixed. The scallops, prawns and mussels tasted lovely, but the prawns were over cooked and rubbery, but this could be a wonderful dish of cooked better. The meatballs were tasty, no complaints. The halloumi starter was really dry and the sauce was almost non existent. The calimari was very average. The mains were the most disappointing, tbh, we all know that pasta is cheap, therefore to charge about £13 per plate, the sauce needs to be banging, and it wasn't, not on any dish, the most bandied about word was"bland", it was all a bit Meh. The pizza was really bad for tastelessness - we left a lot of it. The desserts, not everyone had them, were all ok, they all seemed again, very average. The house wine was very acceptable. The staff were very attentive. This place could be absolutely wonderful, most of the staff and the owner/manager all seemed to be Italian, so why was the Italian food so poor? It wasn't cheap either, so my advice is to sort your sauces out, be bold with flavours and don't be stingy with the amount of sauce. I make much better pasta dishes, and I'm no chef. Such a shame as the place itself has a lovely atmosphere, but I won't be spending money here...
Read moreDined in a large group, starters were nice, barring the halloumi that was dry. Mains were incredibly bland - pizza wet and badly constructed albeit with a good dough. Pasta, poor presentation and bland bland bland. Desserts? Read on...
Service - dissapointing and unwelcoming. Two out of the three waiters unable to smile, giving sharp retorts and loudly barking at guests in a rude manner. The place wasn't even busy, no wonder a big booking three hours before was taken!
Desserts - horrendous and a really dissapointing way to end the meal. Poor presentation, obviously pre packaged, so heated and expensive.
The kicker? The chocolate fondant was completely cooked through and inedibly hard on the outside. When I let the waitress know she gave me a look, went to the manager, who came back and said 'it comes like that'. Well on the menu kind sir, it says a runny middle...
She then brandishes the dessert and says coldly 'so do you want it or not?'. I was so shocked I couldn't even reply.
I've never had ruder service in Sheffield and the food just is not good enough to justify the cost or...
