Had a lovely Sunday evening at Jabeerwocky. We were a party of five and tried a number of their fine beers, including “starbeer” which seems to be a chocolate bar in a beer glass! Between us we tried just about the whole menu which is small but very interesting with a couple options that were good for my vegan daughter. All reasonably priced too! The homemade dumplings, both potato bacon with cheese and the vegan option went down a storm; we all had a taste and met with appreciative “yummy” noises. We also had both the vegetable and beef goulash which again were very good. Along with a couple of bowls of chips we had a fine feast. We were lucky to find the place on a Sunday as food is only served Wednesday to Sunday but it would be worth planning ahead. Read moreWhen I bought my house over the road from here some 30+ years ago this non descript place was nestled in amongst the likes of the Star of Asia restaurant and Caudles upholstery. This area has changed since I left in 2015 - it's become the sort of place I always hoped it would be. (Maybe it took my leaving to raise the standard!) This bar would have been a reason for me to stay. Tonight we've been to a Tap Takeover for our new neighbours, a small and equally funky brewery called Saint Mars of the Desert.
