Sidney & Matilda — Restaurant in Sheffield

I was here a few months back to see balancing act, and i have nothing but nice things to say about this place. Me and my friend arrived in Sheffield very early, as we were unsure of venue rules and queuing regulations here, as we have both experienced different systems in different places before. After a while we met with some others attending the show and continued up to the venue, as (all of us not being from Sheffield) we were unsure of what to do, upon arrival (still several hours early) i asked staff what time queuing began etc, they informed us that the band had not arrived yet, and the show wouldnt start for a while, but we were more than welcome to come in, hang around and have a drink and stay for as long as we wanted. We went in and the place had the vibe of a proper music club. The venue is set out in a few different buildings with something of a courtyard area in the middle, which had beautiful outdoor seating, the bar area was spacious and the seating spread out. Someone was enjoying a birthday party in a downstairs area but the band could be heard throughout, which provided some nice live music to listen to during our wait. The drinks were decently priced, especially for a music venue with a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, i personally enjoyed the beers on offer. The area in which our show was being held was a space that can be likened to a very large shed or barn area, it was intimate, which i like in a venue, and beautifully decorated. We held our wedding reception there on 12th June 2021 and couldn’t have imagined a more perfect space. Throughout the planning process Al was highly accommodating and very helpful. Al was happy to give us creative freedom and was supportive of all of our ideas of how to set it up exactly how we wanted it.

The pandemic started just weeks after we had booked Sidney and Matilda and the ever-changing restrictions could have made this problematic but the venue’s support allowed this to remain stress free and adapt the event accordingly.

The venue itself is stunning and upholds a magical atmosphere. They provided everything we needed such as tables, benches and the sound-system for the evening.

The bar staff on the day were all an absolute joy- they were all so helpful and really added to the occasion.

Sidney and Matilda is the perfect venue in a great location and I’m so excited to have more events there...

WOW!!! 5 stars just aren't enough for Sidney and Matilda, it is an incredible venue. My daughter and son-in-law held their wedding reception here and it far exceeded all of our expectations (which were already very high). Al and the team worked so hard to make it the perfect occasion - they were warm, friendly and so accommodating, there wasn't anything that was too much trouble for them and they went out of their way to make sure that everyone was having the. best. time. Even though the wedding took place during a pandemic and had to adhere to the restrictions in place at the time (limited numbers and social distancing) the Bride and Groom definitely didn't feel that their experience had been compromised in anyway... if anything it made it an even more intimate and special day. Sidney and Matilda is a place to do weddings your own way; it has a creative, relaxed, bohemian vibe that rubs off on everyone.
