Absolutely loved the winter garden! Firstly I do have to say, I went in August so the weather was absolutely beautiful and warm. The flowers and trees were well in bloom. I took a lot of pictures, and overall the garden was busy. It’s not a huge garden by any means but it’s a nice place to sit while you chat with a friend or to just pass through. It had a decent amount of benches and there was a lovely little cafe inside that had seats sprawled across a small part of the garden. I would recommend just going past the Winter Garden while you’re on your way some where else. It’s not really “the main event” type of place. Regardless, I loved it. Read moreThis place is stunning. The architecture gives me the impression of an inverted ship hull but in stunning glass. Whether your looking to escape the frequent rains during winter, have your bagged lunch or just to take a breather from the days stress with a sketch pad nothing really beats being surrounded by the massive tropical plants inside the Winter Gardens. And the best thing about it is that it's FREE! Kids love spotting and following the large sculpted snake hidden amongst the plantings. Read moreIt's a pretty oasis in the centre of Sheffield with huge tropical trees and lively flower beds, leading into the millennium galleries. There's crafty gift shops and cafes and it opens both onto the Peace gardens and opposite the Crucible. At the moment there is a great exhibition by the Heeley Art Group, local artists and of course it also has hosted the TV snooker match discussions in the past. It's a nice way to enter sheffield when coming up from the station. Always something to see and right in the thick of things. Maybe some of the plants need a bit of attention now,...
