"The best full English breakfast I've ever had" that were my words to the owner Jules, and I stand by them. Mostly when you have a cooked breakfast out - there is little to distinguish one from another. A Spoon breakfast is unique. Mainly the ingredients, you can taste the quality of the products. The sausage is beautifully spiced and flavoursome, the bacon crisp, the egg fresh and the potato rosti is deliciously textured and breaks apart in the mouth. Add black pudding, mushrooms, grilled tomato and beans and you'd think that would do. They've only gone an added a crispy fresh slice of home made toast to mop up all that flavour. I chose a coffee to go with it and got a proper mug. You can chose from any sauces that you want to go with it. I tried the home made brown sauce which the owner makes himself. Really, really good. I tried to but a jar but the current batch is sold out... Obviously the regulars know their flavours and buy it up quick. Jules says a new batch will be ready soon. We stopped off on the way to Meadowhell from our home in Nottingham and am so glad we did that we'll make it our destination next time. Bought 2 cream egg choc brownies to take away although all cakes looked amazing. Spoon told us to heat it up when we got home for 10 seconds. Tasty, tasty...
Read moreI have never ever posted before but I felt that if I didnât those poor girls that work there might have to put up with the horrendous treatment I witness today from the chef . I went in for breakfast with my partner and 2 young children . The waiters was very polite and took our order . We were told that we would have to wait half a hour , which was fine and that she would bring the childrenâs out first . Which she did . She then brought out our food but is was the wrong order, but we started to eat it ,we didnât want to complain because they were so busy . One of the girls came out and said I think you have the wrong order . We apologised and she said it was fine . From the moment she went in to the back all we could hear was screaming and swearing from the chef . I have never felt so uncomfortable before . The poor girls looked scared to death . No one should ever be spoken too like that at work . If I had not had my children with me I would have confronted the chef myself . We were scared for the girls safety . We wouldnât have paid but we didnât want the girls to get more abuse . My partner was that upset that she actually left crying . I will never ever go back unless I find out that the chef had...
Read moreI needed a restaurant to get a group of family and friends together and a friend suggested Spoon as they would take a reservation. They also serve breakfast all day which a couple in the group love. Our table was ready when we arrived and our service provided by Lee was great. He was personable and efficient. Our lunch was fantastic and served piping hot which is sometime hard with a big group. I also loved the plates and bowls which were individually made. A couple of us had the dessert which we were able to pick form a case. All hand made and it was hard to make a choice. They all looked so good! It was extra special that the owner, Joules came out from the kitchen and introduced himself. If you are looking for a neighborhood spot for coffee, breakfast or lunch (or a bistro evening which I saw advertised while I was there, this is the place! I will definitely be a...
