I don't live in Sheffield, I travelled from Scunthorpe to take a young man with autism and learning disabilities out for the day, we went for a meal in the Benjamin Huntsman as he likes the meals in Wetherspoons, I found the customer service at the bar shocking, I paid cash for my service users meal as I had to order and pay for them separately, I asked for a receipt for the first meal but the paper had run out on the machine, after the paper was replaced I got my receipt. I ordered my meal and again paid cash. Again I asked for a receipt as I have to account for my service users money. The young lad that served me appeared to a new member of staff and struggled to print off a receipt, he asked someone to help him who I assumed was the manager, she asked me to pay for the meal before I could have the meal as she said it hadn't been sent to the kitchen, I informed her that I had already paid for the meal and that the meal was on the screen, the young lad that served me didn't tell her I had already paid for the meal and as I didn't have a receipt because he looked like he got himself into a bit of a panic and couldn't print the receipt. When she asked him if I had paid, there was very little response from him, so I had to pay again, which I wasn't happy about and didn't want to cause any upset to the young man I had taken out for the day. I've already put a complaint into Wetherspoon about this, whether I get a response or even my money back...
Read moreFriendly bar staff. Downhill from there. Requested 2 vegetarian breakfasts and asked for the quorn sausages to be replaced by pork sausages, something that we have been able to do at the many other 'Spoons we have been too. Barmaid went off to check if this was possible, after a terse discussion with the kitchen (which was broadcast so that everyone at the bar could hear) it was agreed that we could do this. Breakfasts arrived, however with only 1 sausage, not only that but the food was cold. Returned the food, the duty manager was happy to give us fresh breakfasts, however the sausages seemed to be causing a problem. I was given a convoluted explanation involving cross contamination and portion sizes as to why we had, had a reduced number of sausages and i was advised that i could not have the equivalent number of sausages but in place of the missing sausage I could have bacon instead ( so much for cross contamination!). I agreed to this, so was rather disappointed when my freshly cooked and hot breakfast, was in fact cold again, not only that but we were rather brusquely told that we had to get our own cutlery. We decided to just eat up and go. We use Wetherspoons on a fairly regular basis and accept it for what it is, reasonable food at an excellent price, but it never usually comes with cold food...
Read moreAn incompetent member of your staff has twice deemed that I have been “too drunk,” after three beers. These have all occurred on days in which I have been consuming meals in addition to a few drinks. The other day he explicitly told me that,” you have a problem.” Please remind him of his duties as a bartender and not as a physician. I have not acted out in any aggressive or violent way and so I am at a loss for words at the moment. Nor do I stumble about. Meanwhile I’ve seen this same employee serve exceedingly old (and with that cones liver and kidney deficiencies) folk several beers, despite their clearly intoxicated state.I loved your establishment and have been spending exorbitant amounts of money on a daily basis. I will not return until you sack this apathetic, crude and condescending employee. PS:EVERY other bar I attend will serve me with no qualms. Keep that in mind. I understand you are short on staff. However he must be a novice as he is the only employee that will not serve me (unless I’m overly intoxicated—which has yet to happen). Should you not sack him, I will not return. As I feel deeply offended. Apart from him, I have never been told that I am too intoxicated for another 4% beer. What a...
