WETHERSPOONS SHEFFIELD WATERWORKS
I am writing to express my absolute disgust with the appalling customer service I recently experienced at one of your Wetherspoons locations. As a regular customer, I have never been treated so poorly.
During my visit, my party and I were falsely accused of not paying our bill, with staff claiming that our card had declined. In reality, the payment was not processed because a staff member walked away during the transaction and failed to return, later excusing this by saying it was her first day — as if that justified the chaos that followed.
An hour and a half later, we were publicly humiliated by an aggressive team member who refused to give us her name. She demanded proof of payment but could not provide any evidence that the bill had not been settled. When we asked for her name and proof, she brought over an equally aggressive manager who also failed to provide any evidence, CCTV footage, or explanation.
Matters escalated when this manager forcibly removed all our drinks — which we have proof had already been paid for — and physically shoved my partner and my 72-year-old grandmother, which we have recorded on video. Despite the lack of evidence against us, we chose to pay the bill again to avoid further confrontation and mistreatment.
When I requested the manager’s name, he refused to provide it and instead claimed to be the “landlord of Wetherspoons.” This entire ordeal has left my grandmother extremely distressed and afraid to visit any public venue due to the abuse she endured at the hands of your staff.
This incident has caused us significant...
Read moreA good place to socialise, and with tv screens too for watching sport. Good taste of Sheffield. Service is normally good, just in busy times there is a wait, as normally expected:) I wouldn't recommend this spoons in particular for families as there can be little space at times. I would say the outdoor seating area could be improved a bit and more private as it can get quite eventful and uncomfortable when homeless people come in to the outdoor seating area and ask for money and get in your personal space. I understand it is a city centre and on the street, unfortunately, it is common. But when you are having a drink or food with friends(meals are great value for money), it can be disruptive at social events. There can also be drama at night in the outdoor seating area, with the location too being so open and people getting drunk interracting with homeless people has caused some fights. I'd just want a safer environment in the future. (This has only been a few occasions and 2 different homeless people who are local, I wish them the best, obviously, and to stay safe. Just dont risk others' safety) I do understand, however, if this is something out of Wetherspoons hands,...
Read moreReally disappointed by this place when we took went for a family meal with my mother-in-law, who is 89 and uses a wheelchair. The wheelchair entrance that they advertise is round the back, by the bins. Even though it's a fire exit, we had to clear the bins away from the door before we could get to it with a wheelchair. Having rung the bell and waited for a member of staff to open the door, we managed to get the chair inside, only to be faced with some steps. Yes, there was a wheelchair lift, but it couldn't be used because the manager had put a table right up against the door, preventing it from being used. The people who were eating at the table kindly offered to get up for us, but we'd have had to move their food, the table and chairs, just to use the lift. My mother-in-law didn't want the embarrassment so she walked up the steps with help. All of this happened with the staff's involvement, so I'm not just complaining after the event - they had every chance to do this right and they blew it. While we were there, another wheelchair user came in too, so it's not like this is a rare event for them. Very poor, I feel for wheelchair users who have to put up with this...
