I have been meaning to review this restaurant ever since we dined here on June 19. We initially went into another restaurant that turned us away because they were fully booked and boy were we glad that they recommended this place. This was one of the bests meal I had in the UK in holiday. It is very obvious the care they take in selecting and combining fresh ingredients to become a delightful home cooked meal. The Cullen Skink had layers of flavor with a delightful richness and was the best fish chowder/soup I have ever had. It is quite a small spot and we were second in line waiting for the doors to open for dinner (it was the middle of the week), so I would recommend getting there within a few minutes of when they open. I could see how the other reviews gave less stars because the service could get a little slow since there are only a few gals working at any given time. Delicious meal nonetheless. They were knowledgeable and more than able to accommodate gluten free for both myself and my husband.

Traditional, tasty and fresh food, nice music and great service! Langoustines were so good and start with the skink if you don’t want to miss a great, local dish. This place is perfect for a dinner after a day hiking. It opened just a few weeks ago so I suggest to try it know before it becomes famous and expensive 😜 Be aware the specials are first come, first serve so be early if you don’t want to miss it. Also the place doesn’t accept reservations but you can enjoy a drink at the bar while you wait for a table.

We were very lucky to walk in and grab a table at 8pm on a Saturday. Everyone afterwards were turned away, so get in early if you can. No bookings. My partner and I shared the scallops and special of the day - langoustines with bread and salad. Both dishes were divine! Very generous portions. For dessert, we had the Lemon Posset recommended by the waitress. A delicious and refreshing dessert. Amazing service! Waitress was very lovely, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend.

Giving the place 2 stars only because the food was high quality and tasty. The service on the other hand was extremely poor which led to the overall experience being very underwhelming and one that I would not recommend, especially for tourists who are would like to be in a good mood.

Few examples of bad service here: Cutlery (forks) were thrown on to the table instead of kept next to the guests, extremely rude behaviour Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was presented without the ice cream (and no warning either), when asked about it, the wait staff just said "Oh, our fridge isn't working so we don't have ice cream"!! - why wouldn't you let us know that when we ordered - also how does a seafood place run without a working fridge?!! Wait staff was very rude saying things like "I don't have all day to take your order" - that was a first.

On the positive side, food was fresh and lovely, would recommend the Scallops, Cullen Skink, Monk fish.

Go for the food but beware of the service - you will 100% find other places in Portree which have good food and...

Service was terrible. We were waiting for everything too long, especially that in the restaurant they have only five tables. Water with some pieces (of food?) in the bottle. Afterwards no one brought new cutlery after sides, main courses were served and we were waiting next 5 min to start to eat. Soup and scallops ok, but main dish (monkey fish) unacceptable - sand in the mushrooms, watery sauce, weird composition of the dish, three pieces of completely tasteless, dry fish. Mussels - small portions, poor quality (we have a comparison with other places on Sky) and the worst — didn’t smell fresh at all. Dessert we ordered never arrived. We were 7, part of the group was so hungry, they just ate and decided to not complain about the food (not because they liked it), but two of us sent fish to the kitchen and left hungry. Small portions compared to the prices....
