Where do I begin..
Let me first mention, at a restaurant I saw an ad that promised to “remove 1 start reviews”. While I have questions about the authenticity of the review process in general, the ad immediately got me wishing that there was a way to remove negative feedback, or negative self-talk that I have for my own life.
It does feel like life would be way easier if we could just remove all the pressures of people pleasing and imposter syndrome we constantly worry about.
However, after a few more minutes of thinking, I realised the opposite should be true. We shouldn’t be removing and ignoring 1-star reviews but rather using them as valuable insight into ways to improve.
I am never one to give 1 star reviews to any place, even if it was a 1 star. Unless on special circumstances, like this aesthetically wonderful looking set up and the good service from the staff. However, that’s where it stops.
As soon as I sat down with my family of 10 I instantly remembered why I didn’t like this place first time round when I went to the Bournemouth branch. But I thought let’s give them a second chance.
The food was utterly atrocious. Ordered a Belly Buster burger that was really soggy which made the bun fall apart. Although it was juicy and soggy it was not because of the meat! The whole sauce bottle was emptied on my burger to cover the fact that how fry their meat was inside the buns. The chicken goujons (from from Asda, Shazam’s range) was very rubbery. It was cooked the night before and thrown into a microwave once ordered by customers.
The beef patty was drier than the Arabian dessert.
The chips were cooked in old oil.
The dynamite shrimps was not what it said on the tin. The only thing dynamite 🧨 about it was when it exploded in my stomach this morning and gave me food poisoning. It was simply prawns in a cheap batter fried in that same old oil they fry chips in, with a bottle of sauce over with to cover up the shambolic food.
I genuinely think there is no chef in that kitchen. The water tasted okay though..
I took some Philly cheese steak from my sister in law and my god.. Lord have mercy on that beef, better off staying alive than being sacrificed. I was chewing off a tyre. Literally a tyre. Not even a Michelin Pilot Sport 4. It was more of a Avon Tyre from “Asda Tyres”
I have read through the 5 star reviews and I can honestly say that the people who have 5 stars to the food here, had/have a terrible mum or wife who knows nothing about cooking. Their childhood consisted of mum cooking boiled chicken with a little salt, with maybe some pepper if they wanted some spice if they were lucky.
The 5 star people here are the type who get takeaways week in week out from their local kebab shop, and call the 1/4 pounder “gourmet”
Very over priced for the food. I do not mind walking out with a hefty bill, only if the food is quality. I mean the chicken goujons were £12 plus. I MEAN YOU CAN GET THOSE GOUJONS FROM A SUPERMARKET FOR £3.50 pack of 20 and fry them.
The dynamite shrimps are still exploding in my body...
Read moreOur recent visit to Chickaros in Slough was, unfortunately, very underwhelming and disappointing from start to finish. We had high expectations based on the brand’s reputation, but this particular branch left a lot to be desired.
To begin with, the hygiene and general cleanliness were deeply concerning. The dining area had flies buzzing around constantly, making the experience uncomfortable and unappetizing. The toilets were in poor condition – cramped, visibly dirty, with mold on the walls and a leaking bidet spray. It’s clear that basic maintenance and hygiene are being overlooked.
Service was equally poor. Staff seemed disinterested, borderline rude, and more engaged in their personal conversations than in assisting customers. There were no check-backs during the meal, and basic condiments like ketchup and mayo had to be requested even for the kids’ meals. Some diners were even seen getting up to grab salt and pepper themselves – something you wouldn’t expect at a dine-in restaurant.
The food presentation was abysmal – it looked like it had been carelessly thrown onto the plates. The parmo arrived without any béchamel sauce, stripping it of its signature flavor. The chips were lukewarm and drenched in Chicka sauce, and the steak had an overpowering spicy taste, likely from being cooked on a grill that hadn’t been properly cleaned after other dishes. Onion rings were unusually spicy, clearly fried in oil used for spicy foods, making them inedible for children.
Drinks were served in sundae glasses, which felt completely out of place, and we were served warm bottled water – a basic oversight that added to the growing list of frustrations. One of the more disappointing aspects was the lack of presentation flair that the Ladypool Road store is known for. There was no dry ice effect on any of the tables, making the experience feel flat in comparison.
Overall, the visit felt like a rushed, poorly managed, and unhygienic dining experience. Chickaros Slough seriously needs to reconsider its standards if it hopes to reflect the brand image seen in...
Read moreHaving recently visited Chickaros in Slough, I felt compelled to share my experience for the benefit of both potential customers and the establishment itself. My experience was largely positive, with just a few areas I believe could use improvement. I've outlined both the highlights and the areas for potential enhancement below.
PROS:
Exceptional food quality: The beef burgers were well-cooked and well-presented without causing any stomach issues.
Good value for money: The pricing was fair considering the quality and portion sizes, especially the burgers.
Tasty sides: The chips, sauces, and onion rings were all spot on.
Positive customer service: The staff was welcoming, friendly, and provided both cash and card payment options.
CONS:
Loud music: The volume was so high it made communication difficult with staff and would disrupt conversation if dining in.
Burger packaging: The burger in the box was messy, causing the patties to slide out. It would be better if each burger, irrespective of type, was wrapped in paper similar to how a non-burger meal was handled.
Box-making in the customer area: This seemed unprofessional and could be done elsewhere or outside of customer hours.
Quality of chips: Some chips were too small, impacting the overall enjoyment of the side dish.
Limited parking: The location doesn't have enough parking spaces, making it difficult for dine-in and takeaway customers.
Overwhelming menu options: There are so many options it could be overwhelming for customers to make a choice.
Website experience: The user experience on the website needs to be improved for better online ordering.
SUGGESTIONS:
Speak with neighboring businesses about possible shared parking solutions.
Implement a call-ahead or curbside pickup system to make takeaway more efficient for customers.
Consider rotating menu options weekly to keep choices fresh and less overwhelming.
Thank you for the overall enjoyable experience, looking forward to seeing improvements on the mentioned areas. Will be...
