In response to Brett and Scott: From a customer/reader point of view, I personally think that it will be more appropriate and helpful to raise any criticisms with prove, for example: a photo of the dish with only 4 pieces of prawn and a receipt for the expensive £115 dinner. I am one of the customers at Forum House and have never encountered your issue of having such a tiny portion. Therefore, I sampled a few of the dishes you had the other night and they came out to be a standard serving size. As a business owner myself at the service sector, I can see people are leaving a lot more negative feedbacks/ complaints nowadays. However, most of the time construct feedbacks or complaints did not feed through to the front service or management on the spot, leaving customers like you not being satisfied simply because no one could read your mind and rectify the issues you had. Just leaving a negative review afterwards could neither resolve your disappointment nor for the restaurant to make you another dish. There were a few occasions that I had unpleasant experience with the flat Iron and KFC Cambridge, I ended up leaving 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review for them because they resolved my problems right away just by face to face interactions

Very impressed with this restaurant from the get go. Wasn't able to speak to anyone when I called to book so I left a voicemail with my details. They actually called back! I was able to book the table for the time I wished without any problems. Prior to arrival I received a call from the restaurant asking if I was ok with dogs as a group of 6 would be attending and they planned to bring s/he along. Dogs aren't an issue but I was very pleased that they took the time to call guests to check if they were ok with it. Staff were very polite and friendly. Regularly came to the table to see if everything was ok. Covid measures are very good; plates go onto an additional table which you pick up yourself and the same once they're finished to prevent servers leaning over you. Seemed very thoughtful. Toilets were sparkling clean, the whole restaurant was. Food...now this was very enjoyable. A person in our party did not really care for Chinese food but has been won over by the dishes that were prepared for us. The crispy seaweed is wonderful. Good portion sizes and reasonably well priced. Will definitely visit again. Excellent restaurant and amazing customer experience. Thank you

Seven of us went for the buffet style menu. There was quite a range of choices, and something for everyone. We didn't have to wait long for the appetisers. The presentation of the food was very good. We had various dishes such as spring rolls, prawn toast, sweet honey ribs etc. The main dish we chose was lamb and pancakes. It was all eaten. Following the lamb, we chose dishes such as beef noodles, egg fried rice, crispy beef. Although the food doesn't look much, it is quite filling. We all had a dessert each. I chose the frozen lemon dessert. Which was quite refreshing after the food. The quality of the food is fresh and much better than any takeaway in the area. The servers were very polite and friendly. Everything was 5 star at this restaurant, from the service to the food. Even the toilets were spotlessly clean. Price wise it's fairly expensive but for the quality and quantity its justifiable. I would definitely visit again

Used to be good , but gone down hill, such a shame as we loved this place!!

The owner can’t handle honest feedback so he’s having to ask people to write reviews to make him feel better and boost his online status !! My review is not false, it's honest. Just because you have video footage of us eating food doesn't prove we were happy with our meal. I will say it again, it was bland but we finished it as we hate food waste!

I don’t mind paying for quality food, this restaurant is not quality.

Dear Jackie,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with our recent dining experience at your establishment and, more importantly, your subsequent unprofessional and abusive response, I’ve never been spoken to the way you spoke to me over the phone by given honest feedback. Look at all my other reviews, I always give honest reviews.

I have a good friend in Cambridge who runs a very popular restaurant and the food is much nicer than your establishment, the rice and portions are much more generous. I informed him of our conversation and he was shocked at your response.

My partner and I visited your restaurant last week and were very disappointed with the food. The dishes lacked flavour, and the portion sizes were small. We finished eating all of our bland food due to the price we were paying and we hate wasting food. Following our visit, my partner left an honest online review reflecting this negative experience.

Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, when I called by phone you proceeded to shout at me and call us liars. This behaviour is unacceptable and frankly shocking. How can we possibly be considered liars for expressing our honest opinion of the meal we were served? A simple apology and acknowledgment of our feedback would have been far more appropriate.

The reason we didn’t bring this to your attention on the night was due to the restaurant being so busy.

I have also taken the time to read other online reviews, and it seems this is a pattern of behaviour. It is disheartening to see that you appear dismissive and abusive to customers who share negative feedback. If you are unwilling to accept constructive criticism, perhaps you should reconsider your suitability to run a business that depends on customer...

Very average food/service. We arrived quite early for a Saturday night to avoid the crowds and our food was rushed out with very little taste and substance. The sizzling prawns with onions was literally a large plate of four prawns and a big pile of onions! £15 please! The special fried rice was a tiny bowl, barely two spoons full £10! The chicken curry tasted like a Tesco cheap curry pot. Overall we were sorely disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food. In the end we finished what we could eat and left to pay the bill. They didn’t even check on us midway to see if all was ok! We figured they weren’t going to give us the bill so my partner went up to the front and paid. It was that bad! We’ve been to this place in the past and it’s been alright but we figured the chef is on holidays. Either way it’s hit and miss and after tonight’s tasteless expensive experience £115, I would never go back! My local Chinese in our village does better than this crap.

Response to passive aggressive owner: Wow! if only your attention to detail in responding to critics reviews was reflected in your food quality. I can see a trend of other displeased reviews from other guests along with your responsive sarcastic tone. Keep it up! I'm certain more dissatisfied responses will keep appearing as you continue to rip the patrons off with low quality dishes and small serves. My partner and I also noticed your recent fake reviews which included our names, you must...

I only usually write holiday reviews, but having just had the most exquisite meal at Forum House in Great Shelford, I just had to write a review. We love the food from Forum House, and even though there are several closer Chinese takeaways in Cambridge, I will always drive out to them. However, tonight, my wife and I decided to eat in rather than take the food home and it was exceptional.

A Saturday night, the restaurant was absolutely packed, but we were greeted with the same usual warmth that we always receive. There are quite a few foods that my wife can't eat, but the waiting staff were incredibly helpful, adjusting dishes to suit us. Despite the packed house, and the fact that the team seemed to be in constant motion, the service was quick, the food arrived promptly and - I really can't stress this enough - it was absolutely delicious. We love their takeaways, but eating in raised the level still higher. Although we are fortunate enough to be able to eat out quite often, my wife made the comment that it was one of the nicest meals that she has had in a long time, which sums it up really.

If you're looking for really good quality Chinese food, in a really friendly restaurant, then you can't go wrong with Forum House. We've been eating there for over a decade and have never had a...
