My daughter booked for her birthday. There were 9 of us. It was very busy when we arrived at 6.50pm. We were shown to our table by the hostess and she explained what to do. We tried to order on the app but it wouldn’t connect so daughter did it for 4 of us. Both her aunties had to order at the bar. So our 1 table had 3 orders but all for the same table. There were no cauliflower wings available which was very disappointing. We were offered alternatives. Our 4 starters turned up. Half an hour later no other starters had arrived. I went up to enquire and was told it was because we’d ordered separately and she’d chase them up. 1 then turned up 15 minutes later but no sign of the other 2. The pub was near enough empty by now and no one clearing tables. Then our 4 main courses came and were informed the starters would come with the mains. Which they did at just after 8.30pm. I didn’t get a ticket for the carvery and was told she’d have a word with Tim. By the time we got our carvery there wasn’t much left and there was only 2 meats. There was mash potatoes on the floor which I nearly slipped on. It had apparently been there since we got there. I didn’t get my pigs in blankets that I’d paid extra for and the Yorkshire pudding was inedible. Things on the others mains were cold. And we’re still sitting in amongst everyone else’s dirty dishes. No one asked if every thing was okay and we didn’t see a single member of staff. We all wanted pudding but it was around 9.30pm by now and we all just wanted to go and didn’t want to wait another hour. I bought a cake in for my 27 year old daughters birthday and I had to chase this up. 20 minutes later a waitress bought it with candles at 72!!! We were not at all impressed and worse we were disappointed. Some of the staff were lovely but even so it was not a good experience. Our first time and more than...

The Cherry Tree used to be known as the best in Derby for a carvery. Today, I was horrified by how far down hill it has gone! As soon as we walked in it was carnage and it didn't get any better. The front of house ignored us for a good while before finally looking up at us and then she walked off without a word and didn't come back. Other staff members looked at us with blank expressions on their faces, before a young lady came over, also with a blank expression and she hadn't a clue what she was doing. We were a party of 6 and 2 of our party had already arrived. The young lady seated us at a different table on the other side of the pub, so we went and found our party ourselves and sat down. We were seated by the children's play area, amongst a sea of filthy tables that hadn't been seen to in the 20mins our party members had been there. We were there for a total of 1.5 hours and those table never did get seen to. There was food and napkins all over the floor and I had to re wipe our table as there was still gravy all over it. When we went to order drinks at the bar, there was one staff member working it- on a busy Sunday afternoon? She was clearly under pressure and it showed when she rudely shouted at guests to line somewhere else if they were ordering food. The food was disappointing, the roast potatoes were dry and stale. There was dregs of veg left and god knows how long it'd be there as it looked withered, so we didn't have any veg on our plates, at a carvery. My farther in-law and partner had a large plate, my father in-law was offered pigs in blankets, my partner asked for some but was refused, and when he'd asked why his dad got some, the server just looked at him and shrugged. Awful food, awful service, in a dirty filthy pub. I'm embarrassed that I'd even recommended it to my in-laws, won't ever eat nor recommend...

Very very disappointed with our visit 6th April 25. Have visited here sporadically over the past 10 years. After our 1st visit I was waxing lyrical about the food, the service and the cost. Over the years I am afraid both the service and the food have deteriorated and we will never return after today. To be honest the fact that we arrived at 1 o'clock on a Sunday having not booked a table and were seated relatively quickly should have been a warning! Two of the party ordered from the menu and I was on a a queue of 8 for a carvery, there were 2 people shaving the meat and designing it on a plate to look like a portion! But then in the middle of a family of 6 they both suddenly and without explanation or apology were dealing with online orders! 🤔 I can also add that the portions were twice the size of the ones being served to present customers. Needless to say that when I eventually returned it was to find that the menu orders had arrived followed unbelievably after by 3 soft drinks. The carvery was practically inedible , I couldn't cut through nor rip the yorkshire, why keep the cauliflower stems on when there is no intention of cooking them, the roasties, I don't even have words for. The only edible vegetable was the carrot s and possibly the red cabbage. Another member ordered the sirloin steak, medium-rare, never have I ever returned a meal but raw steak was a stretch too much I am afraid! After 20 mins a new one was brought over but to add insult to injury it was well done to say the least. The fish and chips were edible however tasted a little like river water. The only one happy after this was the dog who we took home the inedible steak for. This is the second review I have ever left in my 7th decade, that is how disappointed and...

Really disappointed tonight, got served by a bearded Indian guy, never seen him before assuming he normally hides out the back. I got one piece of beef and a thinly sliver of Turkey that was it! Worst serving i’ve ever had from there. I asked him if that’s it, he said that’s all you get. Having been a regular for quite sometime i know the servings a much more generous. Normally a choice of three, the gammon had pretty much gone so i opted for the turkey and beef, i would have expected three slices as per normal. I’d definitely avoid going up for your carvery if that guys ever serving. Think we’ll avoid going in future for a while now, definitely felt short changed. I would have gone to the manager but we were in company and didn’t want to make a scene. If any manager is looking i’d avoid letting him serve in future as he acts as if it’s his business and is tight with the servings, very disappointed. He’s definitely lacking people skills, they are normally more talkative, i’d advise you to not go if that guy is serving in future. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: As i explained i was unable to speak with a member of staff as i was in company and didn’t want to cause a scene, you should train them on portion size as a given, and people skills, as neither have ever been a problem before now. If said person was being trained then he should have had the trainee with him to avoid any negatives, you should feel confident in the person being trained before letting them loose on customers Also he was really slow when carving to let you know, basic skills they should possess even at a reasonable level. And also the stuffing is really disappointing dry and clumpy and the parsnips were quite “overcooked” well done/burnt!

QUEUES QUEUES QUEUES Me and the wife came for a carvery one Sunday afternoon around 2pm July Pros Friendly, helpful staff, the carvery food was every little bit perfect, the cake take away I believe is amazing value (even if you are full after dinner, take one home for later). Reasonably priced food 2 standard carveries 2 cokes and a cake take away £35 Cons Due to how busy it is the carpark is almost always full so you may have to run the risk of overstaying the 2 hour services carpark. We booked a table and between queuing up to be seated to ordering food / drink at the bar, queuing for our carvery to the very first bite took just over an hour. Its a long time to be standing so if you struggle with standing for long periods keep this in mind. Queuing for food/drink at the bar was a mish mash, about 3 lines of people scattered around the bar area waiting to be served felt unorganized (heard a lot of moaning and tutting about this). I can't fault the staff for this but there was hand full of customers doing more than one carvery plate at a time (guessing for friends or family) slowing the queue down, a minor annoyance but never the less. Over all Id go again but not on a Sunday, carpark situation can't really be helped unless they extend it and staff I think could of done with 1 or 2 more on the bar sorting drinks. Other then that totally worth it
