My mate had suggested going for breakfast here as he rated the All Day Breakfast. We had to travel all the way from Newton Abbot and the rain was lashing down, with flooded roads most of the way, so had better be worth it. Parking was easy in winter time, just park curbside near the cafe, free for two hours. The cafe (it's not a coffee house in my opinion) has a covered walkway over the strange long fronted building's entire length, which was welcome in the pouring rain. The length of the building makes you think it must be a huge cafe, but no it's only about 9 feet from front to back, so more akin to the proportions of a standard gauge railway carriage. We ordered the two All Day Breakfasts and they were indeed good, with quality ingredients used, delivered by nice and friendly waitresses. However, they weren't huge portions, just a normal amount of food and a higher price than what I'm used to paying in London. That's not a moan, just an observation. One moan is the coffee that comes as part of the breakfast deal is just cup sized, not mug and with no second free refill. My tip therfore is to choose tea, as you get two cup fulls from the pot supplied. It's real leaf tea supplied in a cafetiere, a novel way to strain the tea leaves. Read morePopped in as we noticed a sign for cream teas. We like a cream tea. As we had just eaten we thought we would share as it was 2 scones with a pot of tea for just under a fiver. We asked the waitress for a cream tea and an xtra cup as we would like to share. She had to check with we think was the manager who was real hard faced. The answer was no ?. What topped it all off was another helpful waitress gave us an xtra plate for the scone ?. Place is out of date and as for the girl behind the decision making you are in the wrong business my love. Better to keep yoir customers HAPPY instead of getting bad reviees. Thanks for the xtra plate to share that...
Read moreJust settled in to the cafe on a wet day on my own to crack on and do some work on my laptop as they have free wifi so ordered a coffee. Not 30 mins later I ordered a squash and just as my squash arrived a darker haired middle aged lady (presumably the owner) came over and said I’m going to need this table soon as I’ve got larger parties coming in and it’s going to get busy. At that I left only to notice a gentleman behind me on a laptop who had not been asked to leave like I had. Totally unnecessary as I was a paying customer and was going to very happily have lunch there. Missed opportunity as I’m a resident of South Pool and have a...
