They may serve lovely food but the service can be abysmal. Ordered a panini to take away at 1.40 p.m. Obviously they take a while but when it had not arrived by 1.55 p.m. I was worried - I have an hour for lunch and they wasted 15 minutes of it - I asked about my order and a girl went to the kitchen and never came back. Very clear they had overlooked the order as many customers who had ordered after me got their orders and I was still waiting. 2.00 pm I requested a refund and left - what a fiasco - I won't be back there. If someone had just come out and apologised it would have helped but no - they kept ignoring me standing there. I wasted 25 minutes in total (walking up there and waiting and walking back) and am still hungry - I WILL NOT BE BACK! You need to get your service levels sorted - LEARN TO SMILE AT...

Very nice food and staff are exceptionally helpful. I have lactose allergies and have to say the staff here couldn't do enough to ensure I was able to enjoy my meal. I am a visitor to the area but have to say the meal was of excellent value and quality and the service will take some beating. After being extremely ill earlier in the week from eating at a Torcross Inn I was a little cautious but the staff here reassured me and did everything possible to make sure my dietary requirements were taken care of . We like sourdough bread and often get it from Almond Thief in Totnes or Hylsten from Blackawton village shop. We were more than pleased to see the signpost of Hylsten outside Mangetout. I came in yesterday to pick up a loaf and was so much looking forward to a freshl slice of Hylsten sourdough with butter. To my surprise, it was stale, and almost dry. I called up the café to check and I was told over the phone it’s 3 days old! Neither of the two ladies behind the counter mentioned that details to me when I paid £6 for it.
