We sat at an outdoor table and were handed out a menu with prices of around 2.40 or 2.50 per coffee or tea, logically more expensive than the take away option, which was 1.85 approximately, I can´t remember exactly. We asked for two coffees and one tea and also ordered a scone and a jam doughnut they had on the window display at the price of 0.9 and 1.25 respectively. In spite of being sitting, we saw with dismay how eveything was served in disposable plates and cutlery (we tend to avoid this type of waste at all costs, we wouuldn´t have chosen this place if we had known this) By the way, both the scone and the doughnut were far form being fresh. When we finished our drinks, the waitress approached us carrying a big rubbish bin where we had to throw all the plates and cutlery. That was the eat in the premises´ service. When we asked for the bill, we were charged almost 14 pounds, which we couldn´t account for, so we told the waitress and she explained that there was an entry on the menu which stated that a hot drink and a piece of cake cost 5.70, and our order, without us knowing it, had entered that category. We couldn´t believe it! What kind of deal makes you pay almost double if you order two items together than if you buy them separately? Who would accept this knowingly? Well, we complained to the manager and he was extremely rude. In short, he refused to give us a receipt of our order and told us to go to our country. We felt incredibly angry and upset, not for the money, but because we felt it was all a scam and he clearly discriminated us for being foreigners. I have seen the last reviews of this place in Tripadvisor say exactly the same. I feel Darmouth council should do something about this place, it ruined...

Very unpleasant experience. Unfortunately for me I chose this takeaway /restaurant for coffees to sit outside as a PAYING CUSTOMER. I've highlighted that as the throughly miserable waitress I spoke to hissed at me that the toilets were for PAYING customers only!! Even though I explained I would be paying and I was sitting at a table with my husband and 2 dogs but I desperately needed to use the restroom a lovely waitress had taken our order so I walked back into the cafe to be met by the same woman who said the toilets are for paying sat down customers only and they are being cleaned. I said well could you not have told me before we ordered as I wouldn't have bothered and gone somewhere else as I explained I needed to use them? I didn't know she said and they are for paying customers only. I said cancel my order then I will find somewhere else. Very rude unprofessional and in this day and age when businesses are struggling it only takes the downfall of your staff to bring a business down. Plenty of lovely places in Dartmouth with professional smiley staff. My advice would be to go to one of these. Judging by several other reviews this lady has a problem with...

Six of us visited for food. My youngest son has a nut allergy so I double checked that there were no nuts in the pasties. I was told that they use all nuts but non in the pasties and all food (which includes raw meats and bakery 🤔) was prepared on the same benches. This in itself, I thought strange from a food hygiene perspective. I accepted this but as the rest of our party had ordered and paid for their food, I asked if I could order a takeaway fish and chips that would obviously be cooked fresh so then cross contamination could be avoided. I was told that this would not be possible. The rest of my family ate, and enjoyed their food but unfortunately my son ended up with a sandwich from M&S food. Can I just say that there was no attempt to accommodate my son in any way. For this reason we would not visit again and I will share our experiences on the allergy groups and forums to avoid others and their children feeling excluded like we did today. This is not a common occurrence for us. Most eating places try to accommodate wherever reasonably...

Looking for a place to eat on a first visit to Dartmouth, stumbled upon this. The clue to how nice the food was lay in the fact of how busy and bustling it was. With covid, it's takeaway or an outside table service, bit tight for space but the service more than made up for it. The moment we hovered near a table, a friendly member of staff was there to welcome us to sit down, once they'd wiped everything. There was a straightforward menu to accommodate most tastes, including a veggie option for myself of a delicious bean, pea, and spinach burger. Indeed all of us really loved the our food - fish and chips, battered tiger prawns. Despite how busy they were, staff were so attentive and prompt (they must be worn out by closing). The array of cakes and savouries for takeaway were amazing. I'm so glad we found this place. Will seek it out again next time we are in Dartmouth.

This is a lively little cake shop/cafe/ restaurant. We were visiting Dartmouth for the day and popped in for a Devon cream tea, but decided to have coffee with it instead. Downstairs is the shop part, selling endless cakes etc. The upstairs, is up very steep, narrow, leaning staircase, which leads into two different sections of the restaurant with chairs and tables on both sides. It is very compact as the whole building is leaning, but it doesn't feel cramped when you are seated at your table. Service was good and we could have shared a devon tea and it would have been plenty, as the scones were quite large and filling, and there was plenty of coffee in one pot for both of us. Overall a very nice place for a snack or lunch.

Absolutely awful!!! Takeaway Coffee and scone is 2.70 pounds but if you sit outside at a table on the pavement you pay 5.70 pounds without knowing because it's not written anyway so it's really malicious and they even give you everything in disposal as if it were take away. Apart from that ,the coffee was terrible as well as the scone ( dry and old tasty). When I asked for the receipt I got a handwritten note and when I asked for a proper one I was awfully mistreated. It is written cake and the cake was a doughnut which price 95 pence. I can't still believe it.I have never been treated this way. I should have called the police.
