Signed in at 2050. Patiently waited to be seated, whilst seen and ignored by 2 staff. How rude. Stood holding the food menu, asked if I had signed in (yes), how was I paying (by App) and can you sanitise your hands (done that). You can sit anywhere Sir (about as polite as it got). At 2105 the App decided to tell me the Brie Burger and the Simple Steak were not available! Staff then told me there was no food orders after 9pm? The Manager explained the kitchen was closed at 9pm. No notices in the Pub or on the App. The Manager said, ‘The Pub is not making any money and it’s difficult to judge what food is needed and what to order.’ My comments about being ignored and being less informed about service was all due to the current environment. How condescending. When I asked for a paper copy of the complaints procedure, I was told none were available because of the Virus. Please........ Multiple paper copies of the menu were available. And still available after 9pm. This is the second time in 3 weeks no Steaks were available on ‘Steak Night.’ If you are going to offer a service to people, try and do it properly. Read moreI am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the inappropriate and aggressive behaviour of one of your shift manager (Ellie) during my recent visit to your establishment on Sunday 27th October.
During my visit, I was handed a broken steak knife and sought a replacement from the kitchen. Upon doing so, I was subjected to aggressive shouting by the shift manager. The situation escalated when this individual returned to the kitchen and proceeded to swear about me loudly enough for the entire restaurant to hear. When I approached her to address this behavior, she responded with sarcasm and further aggression, despite my calm demeanor.
This incident culminated in her banning both myself and my partner, who did not engage in the situation, from your establishment for three months. Witnesses present during this altercation have expressed their willingness to testify to the unprofessional conduct displayed by your staff member.
I find this treatment to be highly inappropriate and intimidating. Such behavior is unacceptable and warrants immediate review. I demand a formal apology and appropriate action taken against the shift manager involved.

Read moreJust moved to Grantham but been in Tollemache lots of times and usually quick and efficient service but not last night Sunday 5. 11. 17, my daughter had reserved a table for 7pm for 7 people and asked specifically for the large oval table at the top, it was my teenage granddaughters birthday but lo and behold when we arrived it wasn't reserved at all and had people sat at it looking at menus so obviously just arrived! We asked at the bar and a woman said she would look but said they'd reserved one at the bottom end which we didn't want as the stairs were an issue for my husband and me! They never used any initiative to rectify so my daughter and I went over to the two round tables at the side of the oval one and pushed them together! Problem solved! Not a sorry in sight! It was quiet in there last night regards people eating but when the food arrived it was only just warm and we like (as most people like their food to be ) served hot! We didn't say anything as we didn't want to spoil my granddaughters birthday meal! Don't know what was wrong with the staff last night but no-one had a smile and couldn't be...
