I've been here twice now! The first time the chef was on holiday, there was no food on the menu, but there was nothing to say "sorry no hot food being served " We left straight away because we wanted a meal. We did, however, find a very nice pub in another area with a much better atmosphere and staff. The second time we called in was just as an off chance whilst out for a walk with the dog. We had a pint of larger and half pint of lemonade. It was £7.50 for those, which I thought was expensive. The larger was fine, but the lemonade tasted nasty. I never drank more than two sips, then threw it away. We wanted some crisps, so I went in and stood at the bar. I was the only person waiting to be served, and there was a guy serving. He never said anything to me, just carried on doing something, but I'm not sure what! I stood there waiting for him to serve me or acknowledge me, which he did eventually. He told me he wouldn't be a minute and then carried on doing something else. I let him know I only wanted some crisps, so he got them and then said, "That's £1.60" I almost fell through the floor! I only wanted a packet of crisps, not a pack of six! But I kid you not that one packet was £1.60! You can buy a pack of 6 walker crisps for £1.50 so, how can you justify that extortionate price for one? Anyway he put the price in the machine. I scanned my card and went. He was too busy to even wait for the transaction to go through because someone came in and asked him something, and then he disappeared outside to help them! I just thought, what a rude guy and never thought anymore of it. I got a notification a few minutes later to say I spent money on my card, I never looked at it. When I got home, I did look and noticed because he was not interested in focusing his attention on one thing at a time he only put in 0.16 for my crisps! So the advice I can give this rude barman is to pay attention to what you are doing and stop trying to do more than you should! You also need to go on training for serving customers because you are rude! Hence, I am leaving this review, and I can honestly say we will never visit this place again even if this is the...
Read moreStopped by here for Sunday lunch with mum. The lamb roast was reasonably priced, quite tasty but didn't blow us away.
The thing that sadly took away from our experience was the attitude of staff about our ice creams. We bought the soft serve but it tasted rancid sour like off milk. I politely took these back to the bar and explained but was fobbed off and told that's just the type of cream they use, because it lasts all year, 'that's just how it tastes'. Wasn't best pleased with this response - the thing still tastes disgusting even if it's not off. When you advertise something as a familiar Mr Whippy brand there's a certain expectation of what flavour you will get. I had hoped for a refund or for my feedback to be taken more seriously rather than being told I can just throw it away if I didn't want it.
Edit 2 years later, they have responded to this review. Rather than learning from the feedback they have doubled down on the snarky attitude: "Apologies for serving a quality product"? Apologies you didn't get the point of this review. I can see that you respond to other negative reviews with defensiveness and sarcasm. Shame to see....
Read moreFirst few days of the lifting of Covid restrictions - and a great way to start!
We booked a week earlier to ensure a table. We were welcomed in to a selection of outdoor tables with brollies - thankfully and our requested drinks arrived quickly, a delicious hand pulled Pint for me and vino for JJ.
The food was brilliant. I like veggie and a bonus is that there is many a Greek dish on the menu..I had butternut squash and mushroom risotto which was utterly delicious. JJ had the stifado which proved to be perfect. After all the hassle of Covid and over THREE months lockdown, the manager and staff could not have been more welcoming and attentive.
Go there enjoy and be welcomed. You're going to love it.
Thanks. C &...
