Not bad coffee for a large chain coffee shop (majority owned by Caffè Nero). The space inside has plenty of seating, although if they want to make it a cosier drinking in space they could have some sofas and armchairs as it still feels like a big open area. Overall, it's reasonable but there is better quality coffee over the road at Jim Beans and a nicer place to sit in and eat at Bean and Brew.

Came here for a breakfast. The welcome was very average. The place was empty and dirty. My croissant was undercooked and I had to go and pick up my smoothie without being told it was ready despite the fact that no customer were around apart from me. I won’t come back and rather prefers to go to Costa. The dirt putted me off a lot.

Apart from the abundance of seating, a big plus for Coffee#1 was the staff here possess a high level of human good naturedness not experienced in larger chain coffee shops. The aircon was a bit fierce on a rainy day

I love matchas and this is not the first time I get one from Coffee#1. This time, however, the matcha latte I've got from this Coffee#1 in Wallingford was awful. It tasted minty, when I ordered one with vanilla syrup. Matchas are not supposed to taste like that unless you add mint to them. When I went to complain about it to the barista, they assured me they just made a normal matcha with vanilla syrup so I tried to order a different drink just in case they changed the matcha they use or something, well they said they would have to charge me for that other drink because the problem was that I didn't like the taste of the matcha. This is terrible service, I worked in coffee shops before and I understand how busy it can get and therefore how easy is to make mistakes but we would always try to make the customer happy so they would come back. I didn't even get offered a refund in this place, so I definitely not coming back, I'll probably won't go to another Coffee#1...

Extremely disappointed. Roughy 6 weeks ago I ordered a triple cheese panini alongside a latte, only to find a long hair inside the panini (I have short hair). The latte tasted good, it was made well however, I was given a dirty spoon and there was drip marks on the coffee cup which were dry, meaning that the marks weren’t from my coffee. I noticed a lot of crumbs on the floor and dust on furniture. Considering that this is a new shop, its a shame there’s a low hygiene standard.

After all this, I requested to talk to the manager for a refund or exchange. I spoke to the store manager, I believe her name was Chloe. She was extremely apologetic and went above and beyond to reassure me. She handled the situation with professionalism and patience’s. Unfortunately, I still won’t be returning due to this.

It seems all the staff and managers need some support as they seemed understaffed and management under a lot of pressure. Possibly a cleaner aswell....

No idea what’s happened here- used to be a great place to get coffee etc. Now,Zero atmosphere, it actually feels uncomfortable here. No female staff most days-where did they all go? They were always friendly and helpful. The grumpy / miserable man is the manager I was informed, I saw another male member of staff staring at a young couple with his arms crossed and looking the complete opposite of what’s you’d expect for hospitality! Mind you he’s obviously just copying the lead of the manager!

The book area, which I always enjoyed is always in total disarray now. Please bring back the lovely friendly, helpful ladies !! I watched a woman struggle with shopping, holding her dog’s leash and trying to carry a tray while 3 men stood behind watching her struggle the other day; spilling her coffee all over the tray.

Honestly the senior management needs to take a long hard look at this coffee shop, they might see why it’s so empty most...
