A few friends recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. The experience started off well enough—we were seated quickly, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The seating was comfortable, and the coffee was decent, though nothing special. However, the meal itself left much to be desired. We ordered our food and ended up waiting nearly an hour for it to arrive. I understand that there was only one chef in the kitchen, which could explain the delay, but unfortunately, the quality of the food was disappointing. We ordered several poached eggs, and out of six, four were fully cooked through, including the yolk, which gave them an odd texture. The hash browns, although they didn’t look appetizing—they resembled a used sponge—actually tasted alright. However, paying £15 for a full English breakfast that looked and tasted like this felt excessive. We also tried the salmon avocado toast, but it was another letdown. The toast was burnt, and the avocado was stiff, clearly not ripe yet. Another aspect that could use improvement is the cleanliness and overall tidiness of the place. At one point, the waiter dropped a piece of cutlery on the floor and then placed it back on the table for customer use, which was concerning. In summary, while the restaurant has some positives, the food and attention to cleanliness need serious work. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for breakfast given our experience.

A lovely environment, fantastic service, and more importantly - great food. Even more importantly, a FANTASTIC #allergy menu, including pizza. Their menu has certain allergy symbols clearly stated on it and plenty of vegan options which, helps with other allergies. It helps even more that most things on the menu can be made safe or adapted. It's a shame we didn't have Sunday free as, this is one of the only places I have found a roast dinner that I can eat (Coeliac) and, more importantly, my kids, who both have dairy and soya allergies can eat it. Even the gluten-free bread was nice. *Another major thing, The Old Post Office has a good number of vegan wines and gluten free beers available and, all are highlighted on the drinks menu, which makes enjoying a drink with allergies far easier. OPO gets another 🌟 for this.

Met a vegan friend in Wallingford and picked here. After our first burger choice ended up being closed for lunches now. Did not know it was an Oakman Inn at first but raised my expectations. Nice pint of Urquell. Bit of a language problem with the host but we eventually sat where we wanted and were served by a nice lady who was quite thorough. Vegan garlic cheesy bread was a nice pizza base, crunchy cauliflower was tasty with a sweet sauce but baba ganoush wasn’t smoky nor much tahini present. Burger was really good as at all their places, love the pickles and mustardy burger sauce. I know Wallingford isn’t exactly destination dining but the place wasn’t very busy on a Thursday. Nice enough experience although bathrooms were a little tired/afterthought. Still, I’d go back in a pinch.

Worst experience in my life! This is the first review I’m writing in my entire life. English is not my first language either so sorry for any mistake in the redaction. I can’t comment about the food because apparently I wasn’t welcome. I went to a day out in Wallingford with my boyfriend and wanted to have lunch at this place. The were not such a thing as a warm welcome. The waitress who received us seemed bother by us. We say hello and asked for a table to what the waitress didn’t greet back and just wave her hand in “come in” sign. My boyfriend ask where we can sit if we can sit anywhere to what she quickly replied yes and left. We found a table and immediately a member of staff come to us to basically “tell us off” she let us know about the need of a booking and that we can’t just come in like that.we explain her that her colleague let us in and didn’t mention anything about booking to what she replied “she might be new so she doesn’t know how it work but you need a booking to have a table” after that she start talking something about the manager but to be honest I totally disconnected with the conversation in disbelief of how someone can work in a restaurant and have such a little if none costumer services skills and effective communication. My boyfriend carry on of asking for the menu and when she was back she just quickly leave them in the table as she was doing it obligated. I’d work as a waitress in the past and I can’t surely say that this girl was really out of line. I understand that we should have book but we are not locals and we just step in the first place we saw and also we asked at the entrance. There were no “reserved” signs at the tables and to be honest the place wasn’t busy. There was poor communication from the first waitress but you just don’t go and says she is new and make costumers feel responsable for it. In any moment of the conversation she apologise for her other colleague of the inconvenience this confusion have caused us. She was so rude and confrontational the whole conversation that I ended up begging my boyfriend to leave because I was feeling absolutely unwelcome and at that point that place took all my appetite away. I can’t get over the fact that the same waitress was serving other tables with a huge smile and talking to other table in great manners. Maybe it was because the other costumer were middle aged white people dress up while me and my boyfriend were wearing comfortable clothes for walking around in a rainy day. Also the fact that she didn’t look at me or speak directly to me in the whole time. Maybe I’m not white enough for her standards? Being the only no white person there and he treated like this while she gave perfect service to other table really doesn’t help in my thinking that she wasn’t happy on serving someone wasn’t as white as her and the rest of the costumers. We then decided to leave and get into “the boat house” that even if it was a pub the costumer service was amazing. With the staff being really friendly. At least that save my appetite and my mood...

Shocking from start to finish in my opinion! Service bad, atmosphere non existent, inexperienced chefs and who I assume was the head chef?....rude to other colleagues especially service staff! An open kitchen should be 100% professional....it doesn't work here. Service lacking and spontaneous with no real enthusiasm. Where do with start with the food???.... Apart from waiting for what seemed an eternity, myself and my fiancee like to share starters so we ordered the Semolina, yogurt, lemon & chilli calamari with Harissa mayonnaise and gambas pil pil ( my favourite of all tapas dishes). What we received was a little tin plant pot of flavourless rubber rings with just a basic, grainy but not even very nice alioli, nothing else, no garnish nada! Please tell the chef that gambas pil pil hasn't got a tomato anywhere near it!..olive oil, butter, lashings of garlic and chilli, salt, pepper and the obvious prawn of which there were 4 frozen?... After a very disappointing start I required a wee. After wadding through the obvious in the men's toilet and notifying staff of the issue I returned for the main event. I chose to have fish and chips for main course as absolutely everything on the menu was far to overpriced and in my mind thought that it couldn't go wrong. My fiance ordered belly pork which to be fair was ok but cold and the cracking was like a brick. However like me earlier in the toilets my fish was sufficiently soaked, luckily just in oil hopefully and maybe 10 of the most over cooked fries( not chips I've ever eaten ) !! Sufficed to say we didnt entertain a dessert, got the bill and left. Never ever to return again! The only positive is that I didn't have a steak ! Overpriced, poor levels of...

After an amazing day out with extended family members around Wallingford we have decided to eat a dinner at the old Post office! We were greeted by a really nice waiter and seated, ordering our foods and drinks were pleasant and easy. Everyone being so hungry awaiting our food impatiently and excited first part of our dinner arrived and served by a nice waiter and second part of the dinner served by a bearded person, which personally didn't really like long beard over hanging my food however I've decided not to be bothered about it. My dinner placed on the table admittedly I was very disappointed by poor rather sad presentation of the food on the plate. There is nothing worse than a disappointment of the food before eating. The plate was half empty and naturally I asked a simple question to the long bearded miserable person expecting simple answer but instead of simple answer to my inquiry of " I thought there might be a little salad?" His answer was very rude almost I couldn't care type of attitude he replied as " there is a salad in the burger CAN'T YOU SEE ?" Replying to my question with another question with and bad attitude made me and my family really uncomfortable, we ate quickly, paid and left. To our surprise we found out that he was the manager!! Shame on the manager, shame on the management and the company. We will never go back there and we will make sure to spread our bad experience to all over the town, to all our friends, colleagues, neighbours, social media and the Internet. All we wanted to have a good time and have dinner as a family however being humiliated and treated badly were not the least expectations...
