The Coachmakers Arms — Restaurant in South Oxfordshire

Clean tidy rooms with good amenities. Food at the pub over the road (same owners) was good. We had Bolognese.

Breakfast not provided but cafes are local in the town. Parking is a 5 minute walk away.

Slightly unnecessary comments at dinner from staff after we asked if it was possible to get a side salad with our pasta - I was reminded that this was a pub and told they'd "check with Gordon Ramsey in the back" 🙄

Some confusion with payment - booking was made over phone and they did not request payment or take my card details. I was emailed in ALL CAPS the day of our booking notifying us that they would be cancelling the booking if we did not confirm immediately. It was implied on arrival that this...

The pub was clean and the person behind the bar (I'm guessing was the landlord) was warm, welcoming and keen to create a good impression. I had the Breakspear Bitter. It was early in the day, so it may have been the first pour, but the quality was average. A little cloudy, but OK. The wife had a gin and tonic. We stayed here in 2015 and I am finally writing a review. We stayed in the flat above the bar. If memory serves, the owners had just purchased it and were in the midst of updating the accommodations. Back then it was pretty rough but we loved it. It looks as though they have made it much nicer.
