Old Leyland Gates — Restaurant in South Ribble

Never been before. Mrs P had the Gammon & I went for the 'Man v Food' option of the 16oz Ribeye. Asked for the steak to be cooked Medium to Rare...more I'd say on the rare side but it was devoured nonetheless. Came with Chips. Fried onions, Peas & ½ a grilled Tomato. Additional side order of Onion rings & an extra pot of Peppercorn sauce thrown in by the server. Trust me this is a large piece of meat. Flavour was to die for & great value for money. Piping hot & laid out on a sizzling platter. I have a big appetite & on this occasion 'Man won'. If I am honest there were a few niggles with both meals but trust me these are minor... Steak was difficult to cut (being on the rare side it moved as you cut so had to be sawn) but was full of flavour. Peppercorn sauce was very weak in flavour. Fried onions became 'boiled onions under the steak'. Served on a skillet is a nice touch but difficult to eat the food esp if you like to 'build up your forkful' whereas on a plate food is side by side & you can pile it up!. No mustards available ? (English, Dijon French etc) 6 Egg on Mrs P's gammon was 'underdone' however the gammon was the best she'd ever tasted!!! Seriously though the meal was very nice & we would not hesitate to go again. Staff were very pleasant & premises clean, Tidy & nicely furnished. Great choice of food & BOGOF offers a real winner on certain days. In the words of Arnie...'we'll...

Was really disappointed with my recent visit. Ordered food and drinks and sat down, few minutes later was told that my partner's order they had ran out off so had to go and change it. Waited way over an hour for food to arrive and when it did my order was completely wrong and looked nothing like they presented in on the picture menu. I told the guy this wasn't what I ordered and showed him the picture. He then came back with what I can only describe is a bunch of lettuce in a bowl and charcoal chicken dumped on top I said again this wasn't what I ordered as the meal should come with more than just lettuce it should have rice also with it etc. He went to kitchen and came back again and said they has run out of rice. After this I had gone past hungry and was disgusted with the presentation and everything about this visit. I asked for my refund back which I only got £2.50 for how it worked out from the receipt after the mess up with my partner's food to begin with. I don't blame the guy who actually dealt with us that day but the lady who put the order through wrong didn't even come and apologise. They could have even gave me a free a desert for all the hassle but nope didn't get that either. Thank goodness for McDonald's around the corner that's...

I am a medical cannabis patient with a prescription and I was kicked out of this establishment when there was nobody else in it because I "smelled funny". I attempted to politely and respectfully walk away and leave when the owner of the restaurant followed me outside and began taunting me. I asked him politely a couple of times to leave me alone while I left like he asked me to but he refused to leave me and my partner alone. Regrettably at this point a few harsh words left my mouth because I was extremely frustrated at the amount of disrespect I experienced. I took my partner here to play a game of pool and unwind because it was quite a busy day and we are both autistic and get really overstimulated and the pub was totally empty with not a single person in it. I feel like I am partly responsible because I have had a previous negative interaction with this place before after being served bad food which caused stomach upset. It was foolish of me to think I would have a positive experience here again, even if just to play a simple game of pool for 10 minutes. Hopefully the place changes ownership and becomes a bit more tolerant and friendly towards neurodivergent people in the future, but as it stands I would avoid this place...
