The Railway, Bar, Dine & Club — Restaurant in South Ribble

Bizarrely terrible service.

We booked an end of term party for 27 local families from 7pm and 1am. Fully paid up for room and catering in advance.

The upstairs bar was poor. Most of the beer was off and there wasn't even running water. Food was good for the price. The event bar was closed at 9pm, despite the booking.

At about 9.50pm a male staff member from the downstairs bar stormed upstairs shouting for everyone to leave and that we were 'supposed' to be out at 9pm. Despite being shown email confirmation of the agreed times (7pm to 1am) and the group offering to leave 2 hours early to make life easier the staff were incredibly rude and agressive, spoiling a lovely evening.

One staff member phoned the manager and confirmed the booking times but two other belligerent male staff refused to accept this and seemed determined to provoke the remaining parents into a confrontation, so we left.

Avoid this place...

What a joke this place is... Got served 2 pints of Fosters in warm glasses .... So the beer was flat before we even tasted it ..... Took it back to girl behind the bar and she was going to pour it into another WARM glass and all she could do was mourn that they had no staff and was told by another member of staff at 5.58pm that she finished at 6pm and could not serve me because she was 7 month's pregnant.... Told the other girl I wanted a fresh one and to my absolute amazement she started to pour me another pint into another warm glass ..... Avoid this place like the plague it's overpriced and the staff haven't got a clue what they are doing ..... It's a shame really because it looks like it could be a decent bar ..... Unfortunately the staff haven't a clue...

The Railway in Leyland is under new management, had a refurb, new door security and new bar staff. It is much improved pub now with a large variety of various alcohols, wine and spirits to choose from. There are live music acts, live sports on the many TVs & pool table/games area. Also a large outdoor seated area with heaters, lighting and bar that will open from springtime. Food will also come onto the menu. This pub once again feels like a relaxing and safe environment to enjoy a night out having improved from how it has been over the last few years. There is a separate function room, which can be hired at a reasonable price. The Railway pub manager is vice chairman of the local 'Pubwatch' & is working hard to make this successful. A recommended...
