Popped in today and I was very glad I did, we've been trying a few cafes round South Shields and this is the best one we've been to.
Coffee is spot on and not at all pretentious (no flutes of latte here thank you!), we arrived a little late so although we where told it was fine didn't opt for a full English instead opting for a bacon and sausage stottie and it was perfect, propper brown sauce, perfectly crisp bacon and tasty sausages and of course a proper half stottie. It's surprisingly difficult to find somewhere that gets this right but they do here.
The staff where very friendly and efficient and the place is very welcoming, it's a proper community cafe, it's quite basic in terms of decor and I'm pretty sure some of the original from when it was a corner shop is still around but it doesn't matter because they've focused on what matters, good food, good drinks and a nice relaxing atmosphere. Read moreFab coffee shop and local craft shop. They don't just sell the usual coffee shop items, no not here, you can also buy hand made gifts from wax melts to Knitted clothing! They sell birthday and other celebration cards, some hand made and some generic.
Also there's books by local artist and author Sue Graber.
People travel from as far as Northumberland just to have a cuppa and as they sell local produced coffee AND all prices are fairly reasonable there's even more reason to come along.
