I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent visit to this Anatolian restaurant left me shocked by the level of disrespect and poor customer service I experienced — not just from the staff, but shockingly from the chef and the owner themselves.
From the moment we raised a simple concern about the food, the attitude we received was dismissive and rude. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the chef was confrontational and unapologetic. Even worse, the owner showed no interest in resolving the issue and came across as defensive rather than helpful. As paying customers, we expected at least basic courtesy and respect — sadly, that was completely lacking.
We ordered beef burger instead we received lamb burger which was not even in menu. We raised our complain and chef himself was confused that it was beef or lamb as they making customers fool Providing wrong item. Even the owner told it was not his mistake it chef so thats mean owner himself dont know how to give hospitality to customers . The onwer took staff and sat to different table wen we told it not staff fault in food it chef the owner in rude way that eat or u can go out restaurant thats horrible for me. Owner need to change the level of attitude he has.
Good food can never make up for bad treatment, and in this case, both the service and the attitude of the people running the place made the entire experience uncomfortable. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values being...
Read moreTonight we visited Anatolian in Southampton for the first and definitely NOT last time!!
We started with the cold meze platter. The hummus was fresh and flavourful, cacik, kisir, babaganoush, ispanak tarator, fresh warm bread and our favourite, the Saksuka, a perfect balance of aubergine, potato and tomato!
For the mains, I enjoyed the mixed kebab, which included chicken shish, tender lamb shish, and a Adana kebab, grilled to perfection. My fiancé tried the Lamb Beyti—marinated minced lamb, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender (I know because I stole some of hers too!). I am gluten intolerant and so they changed the couscous with my dish to chips instead which was perfect.
As a wine nerd, I wanted to try some Turkish wine, the Yakut red to be specific. It complemented the red meats beautifully, if you're a fan of Sangiovese wines (like Chianti) you'll love this wine too. The fruit-forward notes of Cherry brought out the flavours in the dishes perfectly and I'm glad to have tried it!
Overall, it was a fantastic meal, made even better by the friendly and attentive hosts. If you're looking for authentic Turkish food with a warm atmosphere in Southampton, Anatolian is the place to go. 5 stars isn't enough for the evening...
Read moreI had one of the worst dining experiences at Anatolai Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was completely unacceptable. Not only was our order wrong, but when we politely addressed the issue, the chef was dismissive and borderline rude. Instead of fixing the problem, we were met with attitude and no apology.
What made things worse was the boss’s behavior — instead of resolving the issue professionally, they were defensive and unapologetic, acting like we were the problem for expecting the correct food we ordered. This kind of treatment is unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one that claims to be of a higher standard.
The food that was served wasn’t even close to what we asked for — poorly presented and not worth the price at all.
I never leave bad reviews lightly, but this experience was truly disappointing. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values good food and respectful service.
We came all the way from north west to eat by the recommendation but I will never...
