As 5 weary and famished travellers dismounted their bicycles in search of a local establishment to aid their replenishment, they deliberated between the local Indian cuisines of Portswood. After initially being enticed by the low-cutting deals of Manzils curry house, one of my companions was adamant that we must take solace with the slightly more dear Gurkha Lounge, which in fairness, stood out with its large and appetising menu.
A starter of popadoms didn’t fail to impress, with delicately light pops accompanied with 3 flavoursome well balanced dips. Swift arrival of the mains was impressive, but even this couldn’t match the flavour cascade which followed. To describe the taste….words fall short, each main delivered highly, along with luxurious garlic naans and pilua rice on piping hot plates, Not disappointed! We even finished with hot towels and after eight dinner mints accompanied by a beaming smile from the head curry merchant.
As the night came to a close after having enjoyed several great main dishes, my Irish companion leant to me and offered one of his most appropriate Irish proverbs given the situation - “ laughter is brightest where food is best” and I smiled.

Read moreThere was a young boy with specs and beard, was on front bar and served us. We were two persons for dinner. Ordered food, asked for water he gave me one glass of water. Again I asked him another glass of water for another person came with me. Same happend when I asked him for empty bowls.
I also belong to hotel line in India. Where we take order and serve with smile. But always ask for water type and serve it first and then food. And always check in between if any need or ask something require by customer while they are eating meals.
we were only customer there today. Over all want to say please improve your services and the way of hospitality. It was below average. I was not expecting.
But rest all was good. Food was good with price.
