I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kokoro Southampton, and I must say that the experience was absolutely outstanding. From the delectable food to the efficient service, Kokoro exceeded all my expectations and left me thoroughly impressed.

Food is amazing would 100% recommend people to eat here. It worth every penny. The food is full of flavour, well packaged and it's fascinating to see them prepare all the sushi boxes in the morning.

However, there could be some improvement to the level of service. When I entered the store the lady on the till was just finishing serving a customer who were heading towards the seating area. As they went to sit down the worker from behind the till shouted across the store at them that if they wanted to dine in they needed to scan QR code to sign in on the track and trace to which the customer said they don't know how. Lady from the counter snapped at the customer with a sarcastic attitude and a raised eyebrow “You should know” As well as that, when my boyfriend started to order (his first time eating here) he took a bit of time to decide does he want rice or noodles and she sighed. When we were paying, we didn't know what was our total, because the lady at the counter just passed the terminal to us. I worked in hospitality before and I know how hard it can be, but if you can't work under pressure, should you be working in a place like this? Have been using Kokoro for around the last year, and have never noticed any issues which may suggest they’re not a reputable establishment. Saturday 24th June 2023, I purchased a salmon nigiri/ katsu chicken box, which is my go to, and what followed is quite possibly the worst bout of food poisoning known to man. I’ve had migraines, vomiting, fever, sweats, nausea and diarrhoea, coupled with excruciating stomach cramps which have left me unable to sleep, or go to work. There’s absolutely no way that this illness was caused by anything else than Kokoro’s food, and after a brief phone conversation with the manager, upon which they hung up, it’s safe to say they’re well aware of their practices, and don’t wish to invite any scrutiny. I’m appalled to say the least, and will be contacting the Food Standards Agency in order to log this as an official complaint, as I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worst enemy.
