No longer Kutis 8/11/25 - Several points, sadly mostly negative, for this restaurant so apologies for the long review:
(If you want a summary – we were very disappointed, avoid this restaurant)
The only positives for the venue are that the food was of decent enough quality with good portion sizes (mains only – dessert was ridiculously small), the tables were clean, the seats comfortable, and the A La Carte menu prices (mains) were comparable to other restaurants of the similar style. Sadly that is where the positives end.
I booked a table for the evening to coincide with the fireworks at Mayflower Park, making it clear that this was the reason for booking there, however only on arrival were we informed that the upstairs dining is only for buffet customers (very expensive at £35 per person for not very good options) and as the stairs that led there also stank of mould, we decided to sit downstairs, where they had closed the blinds! We asked the waiter but they said they would not open them “as the window is broken”, then told us that we could walk onto the outside decking (11°C outside) but it is very slippery – my date had a bad back so we didn’t risk this – luckily one of the other patrons ignored their reluctance and opened a few of the blinds so we were able to look through the very dirty windows.
Once we had ordered (we had to ask a few times to be served) they then took ages bringing the drinks to the table, and it was very difficult to do any ordering as the waiters didn’t appear to speak English – just enough to understand the menu items, even though I had to repeat my drink to him a few times, and even then he ended up bring me a substitution item which wasn’t even on the menu! There were at least 4 waiters walking around but still somehow they were not able to serve the tables very quickly – it was not that busy.
When the waiter brought the mains to the table on a trolley, he’d left one of the portions of rice behind (plenty of room on the trolley) so had to go back for it – even more delay!
We asked for a jug of water for the table, but instead they just brought 2 glasses of water.
Once we’d finished our mains we ordered dessert, but the waiter then didn’t take the dirty plates away, we had to ask a passing waiter to remove them. Same with the dessert plate when we ordered coffees. Then when they brought the coffees to the table they didn’t bring milk or sugar (you would have thought they would ask when ordering!) so they went away and took an age coming back with them.
When we asked for the bill at the end, they gave us a bill which had several items added that we didn’t order, bumping the price up by 50% - we complained and they had to rectify the bill, going through each item to clarify which items were correct! At one point I thought I was on a TV prank show!
We found each situation ridiculous, and could only laugh at the ineptitude of the whole place.
We will definitely not be...
Read more★☆☆☆☆ – A Night of Negligence at ROYAL PALACE Restaurant, The Royal Pier, Southampton We visited ROYAL PALACE Restaurant at The Royal Pier in Southampton with high hopes, but what we experienced was nothing short of deeply disappointing. Our order was taken promptly at 8:45 PM BST dated 10/08/2025, and the starters arrived on time. That was the last and only positive part of the evening.
We waited an entire hour for our main dishes, repeatedly asking every staff member we could find about the delay. Each time, we got the same empty responses: “We’ll let you know,” “We’ll confirm,” “We’ll check and come back.” Not once did anyone actually provide us with a real answer or update. Instead, we were met with complete indifference.
By the end of this exhausting wait, our disappointment had reached its peak. We finally decided to leave the restaurant without even being served our main course. This was not just slow service—it was blatant negligence from the staff.
Note: I am not writing this review to publicly shame you, but I do need answers regarding the negligence I faced from you and your staff that evening. Customers deserve respect, communication, and basic service standards, none of which were met during our visit.
A restaurant’s name may be “ROYAL,” but there was nothing royal about this treatment. We left feeling ignored, frustrated, and...
Read moreAfter a long day at Paultons Park we wanted to go for a indian. This was the closest to the hotel we were staying at. We were greeted nicely by a young gentleman who gave us a round booth table. We asked if they can make us a tandoori chicken tikka briyani, we received our food however the briyani was not tandoori tikka, (we previously owned a Indian restaurant) sent it back and received the same dish again. We ate the food and it was nice but not what we wanted. We had to call the staff over to attend to us, as we were left to it. Once the bill came my husband had already paid but upon looking at the receipt they had added to cobra drinks which we didn't drink. That was kindly rectified, however once I gave feedback to the young lady about the briyani she told me they cook it in a machine instead of tandoori but they clearly have a tandoor because we had lamb chops for starter and that was put in the tandoor. Anyway the food was OK, staff could of been more attentive however the young gentleman was nice and the restaurant was...
