TEB Lounge — Restaurant in Southampton

Was excited by the Social Media presence and atmosphere it was boasting so booked for the Friday. They said there was a resident DJ from Fridays at 9pm.

We arrived at 8pm, with two other tables in the restaurant. Service was very slow and a bit disjointed. We had our drink order taken about 10 minutes into being sat down. A minute later a separate server came to take our drink order again. Another period before our food order was taken.

Starters took a while to come out which i understand but considering we ordered the prawns and a salad, you’d think it wouldn’t take as long as two cooked dishes.

Salad was lovely, massive portion. Prawns were huge, in line with the price point.

Our Mains left a bit to be desired. Again massive portion for the Spaghetti Fruti de Mare. Giant prawns, the mussels / clams were a bit cold and the scallops were too salty. What was off putting was the double-cream in the sauce, which made it too rich and sickly. I’m a personal believer that sauce with a Frutti de Mare needs only be oil, garlic, and chilli. The fish will speak for themselves.

The Steak was tough and while requested to be medium rare, it was rare to blue when it came out. Very odd to pair it with Waffle fries. For the price point, comparing to other steak houses, you’d think it would be more apt to have a choice of potatoes. Mash. Thick cut chips. Dauphinoise. Just for example.

For the hype built and the luxe promotion, it didn’t meet it. Being new, I hope they take on the feedback, because Portswood is the new up and...

From the moment you step through the door, you are greeted by friendly staff and welcomed into the beautifully decorated restaurant. The furnishings are smart and it is clear you are entering a smart yet relaxed establishment. The service was timely and efficient by smartly dressed staff who seemed to be pleased to serve you and want you to enjoy your time there. The food was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. There were 4 of us; 2 of us had the sea bass, one had the lamb belly and the other had the sirloin steak. All beautifully presented and very tasty. We didn't have cocktails this time, but our previous experience of these was wonderful. I found the music a little on the loud side but it wasn't a major problem. Overall, it was a wonderful evening with great food and service....

Came here for a meal on a Monday evening, we were the only table in there, booked for a table of 3. We were still waiting for one to arrive and the waitress was asking if we were ready to order food? Not sure why we were being rushed? Told the waitress we were still waiting for a friend to join us. Not once did the waitress ask if we had any allergies? We ordered our meal which was ok, not the best pasta dish I’ve had. We had to wait 20 minutes before our plates were cleared. Was given the dessert menu and the waitress asked straight away if we wanted anything? She could have given us a chance to look through the menu first….. Service could have been better. Would not return due to poor service and food...
