I was absolutely appalled by this restaurant and their complete lack of customer service, firstly we booked 2 of the upstairs rooms for our party of 32, they decided they could squeeze us in to an area that only had enough seating for 20 people so the restaurant cancelled the other tables.

We complained to the management and said it was not acceptable to ask us to eat off our laps and pointed out there was not enough seats for all of our party - apparently it's acceptable in this restaurant to have to sit on each other's laps whilst you eat! They also had the nerve to say we should have gone and looked at the space before we booked (we did, that's why we asked for the 2 rooms)

Eventually they brought in enough stools but getting in and out i.e. to go to the toilet or to actually go and get our food, required half the party having to stand up, lift the tables out of the way (there was nowhere to move them to) or have people jump over the top of the table. This got very boring with a party of 32!

At £20 a head for the buffet I would have expected a starter or a choice of starters, the buffet was served all at the same time so we paid £20 a head for a main course with a mini sping roll and a piece of prawn toast on the side, we waited an hour for this to come out and the rice was massively over cooked.

I don't know what their normal menu prices are but I'm pretty sure they don't get away with £20 mains in Southampton.

The service was awful, the bar service was slow and we had to clear our own plates because they had no staff available to do it, we waited 25 minutes with our finished plates in front of us before deciding on this course of action, this was the same for the glasses.

It was such a shame because the food was actually really good but let down by the very poor treatment of their customers. Don't ever book a group in here, I know 32 people who will not...

The food was delicious however the management was terrible. We ordered 2 desserts, after 30 minutes they came and told us that they actually didn’t have any custard cake left so we had to have mochi instead. Then we waited another 30 minutes for the mango sticky rice just for the waitress to come and say it still wasn’t ready and she didn’t know when it would be so we ended up leaving. The waitresses were very good and explained that everyone was complaining on the waiting time because they decided to have uber eats on and had too many orders from them and the waitresses had told them to turn uber eats off yet they still weren’t leading to the people actually sat in the restaurant having to wait unacceptable times for their food. It was a massive disappointment after we had a lovely main meal to then have to wait over an hour for desserts which were still not ready in that time and it really ruined our night. They should really prioritize the people in the restaurant over having more orders on uber eats to the point where they can’t even keep up with them. It’s a massive shame for the customers and it leads to the waiters being under lots of stress from all...

Fantastic food and ambience was let down by the service. When we arrived I was asked what my name was, which I told the waitress. After repeating 3 or 4 times that I booked a table and wasn't here to pick up a delivery we sat down. We ordered food and about 15 minutes later a waitress came back and told us that there was a problem with the system and our order hadn't gone through. We ordered again and about 10 minutes later our food, except for 1 tapas dish arrived. The food was incredible and is some of the best Thai food I've ever tried. The menu was varied and both the tapas and main meal were portioned really well. However when the bill came we had been charged for the coconut chicken that never came. I told the staff and they quickly changed the bill but seemed a bit unapologetic. If they'd done something like taken a drink off as well it wouldn't have been a problem. Overall it could be very nice here but perhaps the staff could do with a bit more training to be more...

Another amazing experience at Mango Portswood last Saturday 4th! I’ve been here several times now, and you’ve never failed to disappoint! The food is absolutely incredible and the most authentic and fresh Thai cuisine I’ve ever had (I’d highly recommend the chicken panang with sticky rice!), which is an achievement considering how many restaurants I’ve tried. The service is very friendly and prompt, and for our meal on the 4th I actually brought my Meetup group along. There were 11 of us in the end, but we had booked as 2 groups of 6 and they had no problem sticking us in our own little room once they found out we knew each other! And wow, that room!! It was just incredible. The interior of the whole place is incredible. Thank you, Mango Portswood!

My boyfriend and I chose this place for dinner because of the vibrant atmosphere and delicious tapas. The interior has bamboo decoration, potted plants, Buddha images and funk music playing. We were seated by a friendly waitress at an upstairs table, a comfortable corner with sofa seating. We ordered cocktails (Daiquiri and Life's A Beach) and a selection of tapas: crispy dim sun, mussels wrapped in bacon, Thai fishcakes, duck spring roll, and mango fritters. Everything was delicious and the presentation was lovely! I was also able to use my student discount when it came to paying the bill. We had a lovely evening, and I would love to go there again.

This charming little place on the corner is wonderful for an intimate meal with friends or loved ones. There are two small dining areas, one in front and one out the back. Service is second to none. Staff are friendly, attentive and grateful for the custom. But what they really really excel in is the food. It was phenomenal. We had crispy squid, chicken phad tai, battered king prawns, a cauliflower side and chicken stay. We even had dessert, Custard Tart and Ice Cream and a Chocolate Brownie. Both with vegan ice cream. We ate this all last night and I can't stop thinking about it. This is my new favourite restaurant.
