Where to even start. We have been to this Yo several times and each time I've considered writing a review and never managed it, but yesterday was so poor that I feel I can put 3 bad visits into one review. To be fair, until yesterday the food has always been good which is the only reason we've gone back.
Previously, we have been told that there is only 1 table with availability to have a pram there and when attending with my mother in a mobility scooter, have been made to feel like we are causing difficulties by wanting to sit in the disabled area. We have also witnessed a member of staff getting told off right over our shoulder, and watched the manager tell his team that he was having the first break - not great leadership.
Yesterday we arrived and were told that some of the equipment wasn't working so they could only do rice and noodles for hot food. I see this was an issue on a review a month ago so perhaps this needs looking at. We still went ahead as we love sushi. Yo sushi have got rid of the QR codes to order now but they haven't reinstalled the button to call for assistance. We therefore waited for ages before the manager came over and asked what we would like. We put our food order in which included Miso Soup. My mum and I love Miso soup, but yesterday it was undrinkable. It was much too strong. We also ordered Salmon Ponzu Salsa which is my favourite. The chef went to hand it to me and the manager, over my shoulder, was telling the staff member there wasn't enough fish on it and that it wasn't done correctly. I have to say, the way he spoke to his staff was so condescending. When the salmon arrived though, it was delicious.
There was another male member of staff who was behind us on the till, who again, stood over my shoulder, and proceeded to tell two of the female chefs to prioritise the order from the Costa team opposite or they wouldn't get free drinks from them anymore. There were people waiting for food, paying customers. He was so rude to the two female chefs as well and obviously felt bad about it as he went back a few minutes later and reminded them that he never gets drinks from Costa so it's not his problem if they stop giving them. Honestly, these conversations should not be happening over the shoulder of customers. The staff look miserable and I'm not surprised after the few scenarios we have witnessed.
I am not the first to mention this so perhaps this needs some looking at. Really very...
Read moreI must start off with the fact we use to LOVE yo sushi. But I have to say the last 2 visits have been horrible, 1st time we waited over 30 mins for our food when the restaurant was quiet. 2nd time which was yesterday, 28/10/2023 it took 10+ minutes to be seated and we stood and watched both the manager and a second member of staff walking around stacking glasses they did look over and see the que of people but there was no desire to seat customers and the restaurant wasn't overly busy, we ordered our food, at a price of £45 all of our street food dishes were served at different times. We even watched the chefs cook dishes for other tables that had arrived after us before even serving our dishes. Some took so long I had to ask them to give me fresh rice as it had been sat on my table for 10 minutes and gone cold before the other dishes arrived. We ordered 2 cokes, they bought over bottles and disappeared. I had to go and ask for glasses, napkins and soy sauce dishes at the back of the restaurant and walking to my table another customer poked me and asked for service as they had been waiting too. I politely told them that I am not staff and they were absolutely horrified and we're very sorry. I took one dish off the belt at 4.90 We were charged £55 in total for a £45 food and drink order and one £4.90 dish. I think we will be avoiding these from now on. They had also ran out of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe hadn't booked a table, was told by a member of staff, who has pink hair, that there would be a table available for us in 45 minutes - and also informed us that they would make sure that the designated table has enough space for our pram. When we returned 45 minutes later, the same member of staff told us that it wasn't a pram friendly restaurant and that we wouldn't be able to take the pram through to our table. The sit down tables are not appropriately sized for carry cots either. So we carried our baby through. Scanning the QR code to order was not straight forward, we selected our items, then the web page expired. My partner then ordered on their phone. When we finally got our food half was from when I had ordered and half was from my partners order. We explained this to a fantastic member of staff, Ryan, who helped to clarify our order and made sure that we were taken care of for the remainder of our time at YO! The food arrives on a carousel, however is not covered, raising huge concerns over hygiene, particularly after a pandemic!! Five out of five for Ryan. But unfortunately we will never be returning to...
