Read moreI had to go here as this was the first pub where Campaign for Real Ale was formed and you can tell how the pub must have looked years ago bas it looks like it hasn't changed much. Good little stop after a folk festival and although this place was quiet, I had a nice chance to relax in peace nibbling on my twiglets snack with half a pint to refresh myself after some water. Toilets are outside in retro style however they are clean. I hope others shall pay...
Read moreProbably the most traditional ‘boozer’ in St Albans, as can be seen from the photographs. I haven’t had to go outside to the toilets in a pub in many a year!
The clientele is primarily locals, although the atmosphere is welcoming. Three/four well-kept ales on draught; had a good pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Branded as McMullen, although I didn’t see any of their ales.
Definitely worth supporting ‘proper’ pubs such...
