Farriers Arms — Restaurant in St Albans

I can't believe you guys are still there! Happy that you are! I used to work up the street at a company called Boston Trust and Savings about 30 years ago. The Landlord was named George, and he was a great bloke, but a little rough around the edges. He had a fun lunch ordering system that confused everyone that had never been there before and got annoyed if they didn't understand it. Loved George, the food and the McMullens beer. I had to go here as this was the first pub where Campaign for Real Ale was formed and you can tell how the pub must have looked years ago bas it looks like it hasn't changed much. Good little stop after a folk festival and although this place was quiet, I had a nice chance to relax in peace nibbling on my twiglets snack with half a pint to refresh myself after some water. Toilets are outside in retro style however they are clean. I hope others shall pay...

Probably the most traditional ‘boozer’ in St Albans, as can be seen from the photographs. I haven’t had to go outside to the toilets in a pub in many a year!

The clientele is primarily locals, although the atmosphere is welcoming. Three/four well-kept ales on draught; had a good pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Branded as McMullen, although I didn’t see any of their ales.
