To begin your meal, the Samosas at Veer Shara are a must-try. Golden and crispy on the outside with a spiced potato filling that is perfectly balanced, they set the stage for the feast to come. The Paneer Tikka is another standout appetizer, with the paneer grilled to perfection, lightly charred and infused with a smoky flavor that blends beautifully with the delicate spice marinade.
For mains, the Butter Chicken is nothing short of sensational. The tender, juicy chicken is enveloped in a rich, creamy tomato-based gravy that is indulgently spiced and utterly delicious. The Lamb Rogan Josh, another signature dish, showcases the depth of Punjabi cooking, with tender lamb slow-cooked in a blend of aromatic spices, resulting in a comforting, hearty dish that is both flavorful and satisfying.
No meal at Veer Dhara is complete without their Aloo Paratha and Garlic Naan ā freshly baked and served hot, these bread options are the perfect accompaniment to soak up the delicious curries and gravies. And, for those who love a bit of heat, the Chana Masala offers the perfect combination of spice, texture, and flavor, making it an ideal choice for vegetarians.
The dessert options are equally impressive, and the Gulab Jamun is a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth treat, drenched in syrup and beautifully spiced. The Kheer, a traditional rice pudding, is a great way to end your meal on a light, sweet note, leaving you completely satisfied.

A trip back to St Albans and therefore we were really looking forward to a curry at Veer Dhara One.
Sad to say, we were very disappointed with the food this time. Maybe the chef we had last time was off, maybe it was because we turned up at 10.20, and we were met with a greeting of "We're closing at 11pm", I'm not sure but neither of these should have made a difference, we were still customers. I had a lamb pasanda which was so yellow in colour it almost was green. The taste was pretty bland, I've had significantly better from supermarkets ā¹ļø. The other 3 mains my group had weren't much better, and this is the same group of friends who I went with last time.
After our frosty welcome, and speed ordering (fair enough), the waiters didn't get any happier with, or friendlier towards, us. It was obvious they wanted us to leave, despite other customers still eating.
The atmosphere, like last time, was lacking. Just 2 or 3 other tables were in use when we arrived.
My previous 5 star review has therefore been amended, The only reason it's getting 2 stars is because it was so good on the previous occasions. If my score were just based on last night then it would be 1* overall and also for each aspect.
More importantly though, I'm not sure I want to return to see if it improves, I'm certainly not going to make it my restaurant of choice next time we are in the city. I'll be interested to see if they respond to this review too.
August 2022: AMAZING FOOD š
I've been to the Veer Dhara One twice now with different groups of friends. All of them said it's the best Indian restaurant in the city and I completely agree, the food is stunning and totally worth the little bit extra.
The service is friendly but not imposing or distracting. I hope this review encourages you to book a table. My only slight negative is that it has lacked a little atmosphere on both occasions as it's been nowhere near full. I know I'd also complain if it was too full so I guess I'm being a bit of a Goldilocks. Certainly it was lovely being able to converse without shouting to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIts not often that I go out to indian restaurants since I find most places tend to use excessive oil and in some a format of hydrogenated oil in their foods.
It was therefore refreshing to come to Veer Dhara and immediately be looked after, find ambience well maintained, well attending staff and finally, a difference in the food.
The salads were light and fresh and the waiter taking our order was well informed and helped my friends and I pick a few items.
We decided to order something other than the usual suspects, instead of chilli paneer we picked sweet honey chilli cauliflower and we preferred salads and we added the vegetarian haara Bhara kebaab ...these came fairly quick and both dishes tasted great on the mains we again decided to go different again and ordered MIRCH AUR BAIGAN KA SALAN (Chillies and aubergines, stir-fried South Indian-style, in a roasted coconut, sesame seed, peanut and tamarind sauce.), rice and the black lentil daal makhani and butter naans...unusual.butnthe naans were really fresh straight out of the clay ovens.
The portions were large and the waiter suggested half portions in many of the dishes and we were glade because we could not finish those between the two, however I will add that we are not big eaters so this was perfect the restaurant does get full and now I know why.....the food is good..the ambience is great the service is good as well.
So why did I not give 5 stars?
One simple reason; Veer Dhara does not have any parking of its own therefore you need to look around for parking on side streets and that was a bit of pain. I suggest you make bookings in advance rather than randomly turning up...
It's a place one should try out...summary good food good ambience great service...no.parking on the premises... I can't wait to go there again....now that...
