It's a nice pub and it is a very old one at that. I don't think it has been renovated too much over the years, it reminds me a lot of my local. There were not too many people when I were in there, a few people would just stop in for one and leave as the station is right there. The pint of Carling I got was £3.40.

Probably the best Sunday roast in town! Food is absolutely delicious, good quantity and reasonably priced. The place is under new management and ownership, it has been refurbished and is the new place to go in town!

A really organised friendly pub, with the current COVID-19 measures. Staff are probably the friendliest ive met in the current situation. Keep up the great work. Definately going to return.

I spent a few nights at the Royal.Alfred and was really impressed at the way the pub/hotel had been renovated. My room was really lovely, spacious, very tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable bed and lovely bed linen. Compact, but lovely bathroom with heated towel rail, huge TV, good hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Each room has its own heater and I was also provided with a very effective fan as it was still quite warm. Location is great, very central and directly across from the main St Helens railway station. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and extremely helpful. I only ate a couple of times, but the food I had was very tasty. Overall a great experience and I would...

The rooms were very good, except for the shower. We had to fiddle about for 5 minutes to get the right temperature water. Red and blue letters on a black shower is nor a good combination especially when you don't wear glasses in the shower. We went down for breakfast at 8.50 only to see on the door that they opened at 09.00. We waited till 09.10 but they never opened even though there were people inside. The car park spacews were so small I had to climb out of the back of my car to get...
