I spent a few nights at the Royal.Alfred and was really impressed at the way the pub/hotel had been renovated. My room was really lovely, spacious, very tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable bed and lovely bed linen. Compact, but lovely bathroom with heated towel rail, huge TV, good hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Each room has its own heater and I was also provided with a very effective fan as it was still quite warm. Location is great, very central and directly across from the main St Helens railway station. Read moreCame up from Birmingham for family party very pleasent staff and friendly had 4 rooms shown to rooms very good for money I had to move from my room (7) as plug socket was hanging from wall requested a move, staff moved me to another room (1) New room was good only thing it was cold radiator did not work and no tv, although when we came back from party staff had put heater in so room was nice and warm.beds comfy could do with need new mattress felt the springs plus side slept well, will keep in mind to stay again just need to sort windows cause of the draught to make rooms...
Read moreThe rooms were very good, except for the shower. We had to fiddle about for 5 minutes to get the right temperature water. Red and blue letters on a black shower is nor a good combination especially when you don't wear glasses in the shower. We went down for breakfast at 8.50 only to see on the door that they opened at 09.00. We waited till 09.10 but they never opened even though there were people inside.
