Ordered through McDelivery at 730pm on 09/07/24
Despite living a maximum 5 minutes car journey from the restaurant, I watched the driver on the tracker go the longest way possible to get to us and it took him over 20 minutes.
(If you know Stevenage and I tell you he went via Archer Road in Pin Green and Colestrete in Bedwell to get to me in Shephall from The Roaring Meg retail park I'm sure you are wondering how and why he would do this knowing he had hot (sorry cold) food on board.
I dare say he was making other deliveries en route but why plan it that way knowing someone's order will arrive cold? Oh sorry silly me, it's the greed of Uber Eats.
When he arrived with our order and I asked him how long he had our food in his car he said 5 minutes which was a blatant lie and he knew it.
When I challenged him on this he just stood there and ignorantly shrugged his shoulders at me insisting on photographing the already open bags of food in my hand at the doorstep to ensure he got paid!
He got very angry when I pointed out there was an option to tip the driver on the app and I suggested, 'Here is a tip for you, get another job because you're clearly no good at this one!'
I had to take the order back myself to get it replaced as it was stone cold and for this I had the privilege of paying McDelivery/ Uber Eats a delivery fee of £1.99 and a handing charge (?) of over £4.00!
You will be unsurprised to learn that I drove to the restaurant got my food replaced and drove home again in between 5 to 10 minutes as the roads were virtually empty after 8pm.
Therefore how does it take a delivery driver so long to get to you when the restaurant was virtually empty too? Perhaps he was parked up somewhere eating the food I had paid for!
The manager at the restaurant said he would replace my order THIS TIME ONLY but any future problems would have to be done through the app as apparently McDelivery is nothing to do with McDonald's and run by Uber Eats?
Similarly, the manager of the McDonald's who I spoke to declined my request for extra free food in leiu of the inconvenience I had been caused. I would have been happy with a meagre box of chicken McNuggets but no, not in the least bit interested.
Funnily enough, there is no form of recourse through the app and Uber Eats say the app is McDonald's responsibility!
I will NEVER use McDelivery again and if I do have the desire to eat their overpriced junk food I will go into the restaurant in person. Absolute joke.
UPDATE Having looked further into this since yesterday evening, it seems that all of the fast food chains delivery apps are controlled by the companies that actually deliver the food and not the restaurants. However (unsurprisingly) one party blames the other when there are issues knowing full well that they have your money and there is nothing that you can do to get your problem resolved.
Even the banks are powerless to intervene and even if your food is cold they delivery company/ restaurants say you have received the goods you have ordered and this is their get out clause, amongst a long list of other disclaimers/ terms which you are bound by when choosing to use their substandard service.
Surely this is illegal?
I would suggest using a credit card to pay if you have to, thus giving you extra consumer rights.
In the meantime BOYCOTT UBER EATS, JUST EAT & DELIVEROO as they are exploiting you and only want your money.
If this was a small business the complete lack of customer service would mean they would have gone...
Read moreSince the May 2022 refit this McDonald’s may as well be called ‘we only care about Deliveroo McDonald’s’ we visited on a Saturday night at 8pm and the restaurant it self was quite empty, maybe 3-4 tables were full.
We ordered on the screens and then sat down waiting for our meal, it took around 15 minutes to arrive. Which was bareable but not quite what I’d call ‘fast food’
As we were about to leave we ordered a milkshake for the drive home and an extra meal as a take away for my husband who hadn’t come out with us and was at home. It was then that I actually stood and watched.and waited for 24 minutes to make a quarter pounder with cheese and a milkshake.
There was plenty of staff, lots standing around doing not a lot but tons waiting and working on deliveroo orders. The manager flitted in and out getting the staff working on Deliveroo to go faster Meanwhile ignoring the 6 orders that were on the screen and the people waiting for collections One couple finally got theirs, he felt the chips and they were stone cold, said he’d been waiting20 minutes and had been ignored and just wanted his money back. Someone came in from a car waiting booth to collect an order as they had been waiting so long and wanted to cancel it After watching this, I asked ‘could you check on my Order as it’s been 20 mins now’ And then miraculously the manager told the staff there looked as if they were doing not a lot to actually make the burger and 4 mins later it was here. If I hadn’t of said anything I’d probably still be there now! All in all! If you want a McDonald’s delivered and your at home out of sight if the staff It will probably arrive really quickly He over if you want a traditional sit in something You will be waiting at...
Read moreAn absolute shambles of a drive-through service. As a regular user of this particular drive-through, this McDonalds has gone massively down hill lately as they are more concerned about reducing waiting times at the window collection point in the drivethrough as this is statistically reported via sensors and they are happy to keep parking customers to wait for there order unnecessarily. This wouldn't be so bad if they had people bringing drivethrough orders out who are competent to do so as they aimlessly wander around and take the food back in after pathectic attemp to find the customer in the overflowed carpark.
Recent drivethrough visit: 3 cheeseburgers, Chicken wrap meal and two mini mcflurrys took 25 minutes to be brought out and the order was wrong, missing items and the ice creams were completely liquid. 2 managers on site(white shirts) , 2 staff bringing food out and 2 till staff. Not one of them had a clue how to deal with basic processes. On this particularly bad occasion there were at least 15 cars parked up waiting on food orders and the same amount waiting in store. I suspect online delivery orders are crushing the ability to satisfy on-site customers at this McDonalds. Who ever ran this particular McDonalds previously, bring them back.
On a different note, when did McDonalds all of a sudden become so expensive in comparison to before when it was...
