Tauba tauba (dear God) where to start. I was looking forward to trying this place out as I’m particular about my curries and wanted to find a decent place near to where I live . It was a busy night in there and while we were waiting for the rest of our group to arrive, we just asked for a plate of poppodoms to quickly start with as we were hungry but we were informed that we would had to wait for the remainder of the group to arrive first! Apparently, us ordering this pre starter would cause confusion for the waiters but they didn’t have an issue giving us drinks at that point did they! I called another waiter over and asked him for poppodoms only for him to announce, “ I only do drinks” so then I called over the manager and he finally allowed us the poppodoms. We then gave our orders and the waiter was v specific in carefully taking the order for the mains first from all first and then he went round with our sundries after which seemed rather long winded. And yet despite this attention to detail, they forgot my husband’s starter of a mixed grill for 2 ( you can imagine how devastated he was) ! He just wanted to leave at that point. The food arrived for me and I was so disappointed. As an Asian “desi” we know what decent food is - so why do some Indian restaurants persist in this day and age to add processed awful food colouring to the veg and meat- do you really think that’s acceptable? My pakoras were like doughy golf balls and and the batter on my paneer was given a wonderful shot of pink colouring! Awful and tasteless. Needless to say I couldn’t eat it. Then my mains arrived. The aloo parata was also tasteless, the bhindi was ok but the paneer in butter sauce … well take a look for yourself below . Needless to say it remained untouched as it looked radio active! All I could think of was why didn’t we go to Hitchki in Cheadle -one of the best curry houses in this neck of the woods. Amaans could do with going there to try all their dishes (especially their paneer in butter sauce which is heaven) and take some tips on service and overall...
Read moreVisited this takeaway 5 times in the last 8 weeks, the food has always been relatively good.
This place however only gets two stars due to the horrendous service that we have received on 3 out of the 5 visits. Issue 1: Staff preferred to send text messages from behind the bar instead of taking payment for my take away... Which was not that warm when I got home either! Issue 2: very arrogant group of guys in there, not sure where this comes from? Not welcoming at all and no acknowledgement when we left. Issue 3: after traveling there especially in a taxi at 11pm on a Saturday night to be told they are closed with no apology is ridiculous given the website says they are open until 11:30pm!
There wasn't even the opportunity to order a takeaway instead because they had started cleaning the kitchen... (Obviously wanting an early finish!).
Khandoker is ten times more professional and a much nicer all round experience... Very poor Amans... Three groups of friends who live within walking distance will not be...
Read moreReally didn't want to leave this review, but my anger at the time wasted, the nonchalant and uninterested response from the staff at the restaurant meant I felt I had no choice. I have dined in many times, and always enjoyed the food. However, we ordered food for collection via their own website, waited the obligatory time, only to arrive at the restaurant to be told that they had no record of our order. This, despite receiving confirmation and a time to collect. We were then given the option to order again in person and sit there for 30 mins while we wait and no doubt be encouraged to purchase drinks from the bar. We chose to leave and never, ever darken their door again with our, clearly, unwanted and...
