Visited the newly refurbished Duttons pub in Bramhall on a Wednesday evening as they had a wine offer so thought we'd take advantage of it! The refurbishment is very nice and creates a cosy pub atmosphere. However although the menu offered a fairly extensive range we both opted for a healthier caesar salad which included anchovies and boiled egg. I added the option of prawns which the waitress said would probably be king prawns - they weren't!. My friend had seabass - 2 small pieces. The salad consisted of lettuce, about 6 croutons, several anchovies and no egg! No dressing but 2 tiny shavings of parmesan cheese ! I have to say it was the worst ceasar salad we have had anywhere! When we asked why the egg was missing the waitress went off to the kitchen then returned saying oh they have run out of eggs sorry , he'll give you extra next time !! We also ordered a side of chunky fries which were a small portion compared to other places ! Very disappointed and went home to make cheese on toast as I certainly wasn't full after that ! A shame because the pub is nice but wouldn't...
Read moreI love to support local businesses, but this was very poor.
Bad music played too loud to allow conversation at the table.
I ordered the steak and ale pie, which you expect to be a generous portion of deep-filled short-crust pastry, filled with chunks of meat oozing in unctuous, flavoursome gravy, but this was the exact opposite - a small sliver of shallow pie perched atop a small portion of what seemed like oven chips.
The gravy was so thick and such a small portion that it all fell out of the gravy boat in one lump and only coated a corner of the pie.
Service was good, but the selection of beers very lacklustre.
If a business makes an effort to please their customers then I'll return, and I understand there are pressures in the current climate on costs, but I could eat much better at home for a fraction of the cost with very little effort, so I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning.
The sea bass looked delicious, however, so maybe I just...
Read moreHad a meal here today and two of the meals were terrible. I was in two minds whether to have the cheese pie or not, so so glad I didn't. My sister in law had the cheese pie, and when it was put on the table i had my doubts about it because it looked so bad, and with the sweet potato fries that were with it. She had a very small amount but two thirds of it couldn't even be cut into because the whole thing was so old and hard, she knocked it on the plate and it sounded like a piece of wood. In my opinion, any chef who sends old food out in that condition should be looking for alternative employment in another field. My wife had a steak meal, left most of the fries and half the steak for the same reason. They did apologize and didn't charge for the two meals but very sorry, we definitely won't be back. When we first went into the pub, we did comment on why there was vertually no one in, now...
