Baan Phad Thai — Restaurant in Stockport

I had my first visit here on the last Sunday in January and the food was excellent, the meat was juicy and the sauces tasty. I was so chuffed at having found this place that I took my partner there 1st Feb (a Thursday) and ...oh dear. I had the same main course - Duck Tamarind- and instead of a juicy sliced piece of duck, it was dry, overcooked scrapings. The ribs were also dry and overcooked. It was hard to believe it was the same restaurant.

On the positive side, the service is excellent and the atmosphere friendly, it helps too that you can take your own wine without paying restaurant prices. I really am hoping the overcooked meat was a one-off as I've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, I may give it another go though unfortunately my partner is adamant he won't...

I found this restaurant on the net. There were great reviews and we decided to visit it for dinner. We did not have a reservation, but the staff did not bring us back. We settled on a table with the condition that we had to release within two hours, which was enough to finish with the dinner. The hall was not very large, but the service was level. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Prices were normal too. I was surprised by the waitress. Lovely Thai food. Pleasant modern surroundings. 4 people eating. Our starters: Soup, Tempura Veg, Spare Ribs, Mixed Platter. Mains: Chicken Pad Thai, Vegetable Pad Thai, Red Thai Curry, and a Chilli Prawn dish with noodles. All excellent! Very reasonable prices as you have to take your own booze which is an added bonus. Glasses provided. Polite and efficient staff. My only small issue was that as the place fills up it gets very noisy because there's a high ceiling but there isn't much in the way of soft furnishings to absorb the hubbub of chatter; making it difficult to hear your own company!
