We have been for dinner twice — having previously popped in for a daytime snack — and we cannot fault it. It's small, with table and window bar seating, serving a small range of Japanese starters, sides and meals.
On our most recent visit, we had a range of Maki starters along with unagi don and beef yakisoba for main, and a matcha pancake dessert to round everything off. Previously, we've sampled the Japanese Breakfast. We always order enough for a meal and leftovers — per head would be lower if we didn't enjoy the food so much that we needed to have enough for lunch the next day!
Service is excellent. Attentive, thoughtful, friendly, engaged. You feel seen and attended, without it being overbearing. Food is cooked fresh and tastes fantastic. Once explained, allergies are catered for and considered at every step.

Read moreI don't normally leave many reviews but this new Japanese cafe absolutely deserves 5 stars in every department. I visit regularly as the food is very fresh, delicious and high quality. The service is super friendly and always with a smile. The atmosphere is very cosy and warm, the owners are lovely and even gave us a complementary Japanese salad each to enjoy with our order of the Salmon Japanese Breakfast, Smoked Salmon Salad and Katsu Chicken Maki rolls. The portion sizes are good, always plenty of food and everything I have tried so far has been delicious, you're left spoiled for choice with the menu. The Sushi and the Miso soup is very flavourful, and we also enjoyed Iced Matcha Lattes then shared Matcha Ice Cream and a Crepe for dessert. The coffee is good quality too. I highly recommend Douzo, it's just what...
Read moreCan't rate this place highly enough, the food was perfect. Literally some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I'm not comparing it to the stuff you get from the supermarket, I'm comparing it to blue sakura for example - what I'm saying is that high quality expensive restaurants aren't as good as this, and this is less expensive. I had the California roll, wakame, a breakfast bento box, and gyoza, and it was beautiful. The service was polite and professional, we were seated quickly, the atmosphere and music were lovely. I would highly recommend coming here if you like Japanese food. The menu is relatively small but that's a good thing because the food is made to perfection. 10/10, will be going again any time I am remotely...
