I don’t often write reviews, but our experience at Loxleys was so outstanding I feel compelled to. From start to finish, everything was just so good.
We were there for a pre theatre dinner. We often go to one of the restaurants on Sheep Street, Loxleys included. This day though, it was just beyond expectations and we were so glad we plumped for this one!
I had the scallops, the green Thai curry with king prawns, and the chocolate mousse for dessert. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The scallops were perfectly seared, served with a silky purée and crispy elements that added great texture. The Thai curry was rich, fragrant and wonderfully balanced, with just the right amount of spice and creaminess. The crunchy onions and peanuts on the rice were such great. The chocolate mousse was indulgent and smooth, paired with the perfect accompaniments to make it even more special.
We shared a bottle of Ormarine Picpoul de Pinet, which we were delighted to find on a menu, a wine we'd enjoyed before. Crisp and refreshing, it paired beautifully with our food. Try it, you won't regret it.
Beyond the incredible food, the service was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and funny, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything just right, but Loxleys truly delivered on this occasion.
If you’re looking for a fantastic meal in Stratford-upon-Avon, I highly recommend Loxleys. We’ll...
Read moreReally disappointed with our visit today, have you changed chefs recently? We often come up to Stratford from the midlands and Loxleys is always our go to place, the service & food today really let us down, I ordered the half chicken & salad for lunch, on the menu it states Caesar salad, I was so shocked to find lots of fish mixed in with my salad? This isn’t stated on the menu at all? The waiter never came over to ask if our meals were ok, we are really genuine people and didn’t want to make a fuss in front of other customers but the food has really gone down scale, my mum had the steak sandwich which was so over cooked and dry, I had to scrape the fish off my salad it was probably the worst meal we’ve had with you, upon paying nobody asked how our food was, your staff were sat at the bar eating food and talking nobody said bye to us. Don’t think we will be coming again.
Update - Response from the manager to my complaint was disgraceful. Basically told me to not visit there again and that they think it’s perfectly fine to serve fish on a Caesar salad without stating it on the menu, goodluck when someone has a fish allergy then sues you for not stating it. Horrible manager I will not be going back and I will make sure everyone knows how bad...
Read moreVery smart venue. Staff were excellent, super friendly, and helpful. I had sent them a message via the booking form that we were celebrating our anniversary and what we would be ordering (chateaubriand) and we were warmly welcomed with a personalised anniversary card on the table and staff members wished us a happy anniversary. A lovely touch. We had the aforementioned for our main course and mussels for starter. Food was tasty but just not at the level which would equate to 5 star for me. An anniversary tradition for us is to have a chateaubriand at some point in our trip and this wasn't at the standard we've had previously, the texture by their menus own description should be like butter and this wasn't the case. Additionally, the toast with the mussels was toasted to a crisp... as a matter of personal taste we like the accompanying bread/toast at a texture that allows you to soak up the delicious white wine and garlic sauce; you couldn't do that in this case. It loses a star for these reasons but it was still a very nice experience and I would return for food again the future. Thank you for a lovely...
