⭐☆☆☆☆ I visited The MAD Museum in Stratford-upon-Avon back in February, and even months later I still can’t get over how disappointing it was.
First impressions weren’t great — we had to go up a dingy stairwell, and right at the entrance there was a mechanical display that wasn’t even working. That really set the tone for the rest of the visit.
When we got to the till, the two staff members seemed disinterested. They just looked at us, said “that’s £17.20,” handed over the card reader, and that was it. Not exactly a warm welcome.
Inside, several of the wooden mechanisms didn’t work properly, and the ones that did all felt very samey. After the first few, you’d pretty much seen it all. There was nothing particularly impressive or memorable — no real “wow” factor at all.
Children were also running riot during our visit, which didn’t help the atmosphere (though I know that part isn’t necessarily the museum’s fault).
We went around the whole place in under half an hour, and I left feeling very underwhelmed. For the price, it just didn’t feel worth it.
To top it off, the gift shop at the end was tiny and filled with generic, overpriced items you could easily find online for cheaper — nothing that felt connected to the museum experience.
Overall, this was one of the most underwhelming and overpriced attractions I’ve visited. I wouldn’t...
Read moreWe recently visited this place and had a wonderful experience overall. The venue features a lot of interactive contraptions and truly creative art pieces that spark curiosity and imagination. The environment is very engaging, especially for children they were genuinely excited and thoroughly enjoyed exploring everything on offer.
That said, there are a couple of areas where improvements could enhance the experience. First, while the interactive installations are visually captivating, the inability to physically engage with most of them makes some exhibits feel more like animations than hands-on art. Adding more tactile or physical interaction would elevate the experience further.
Secondly, a few of the major attractions, including the highly anticipated marble run, were unfortunately out of order during our visit. These are usually a big hit with kids, so it was a bit of a letdown.
Despite these small drawbacks, it’s a unique and imaginative space that’s definitely worth a visit especially for families with curious young minds.

Read moreI visited here a few days ago whilst visiting stratford upon avon. Would I return ? Absolutely not. Let me tell you why...
Firstly, the entry fee is a rip off. The entire tour took us 30 minutes and we left - it is tiny. The space there isn't wide enough to even be considered as a 'museum'.
There was a school visiting there when we arrived and there was around 20 kids. Now imagine 20 kids running around with books and pens making such loud noises whilst your trying to look around. I attended with my two year old and 3 month old and it was very hectic. For the size of this place - they shouldn't allow a school trip there and guests at the same time. They should have hired it out exclusively to them to avoid it being overcrowded.
It was overwhelming and we didn't have a chance to look at Absolutely everything (even though there wasn't much).
Honestly.. it was overall disappointing. I'm not sure why there are so many good reviews about the place because we don't feel happy with it.
We...
