We stayed a few weeks back. Great location for the hotel if you’re visiting Stratford, good amount of parking too. We arrived early and parked the car, staff on reception were friendly when we arrived. The rooms were ready a little earlier when we came back to check in which was handy and they sorted no problem for us. I’ve since seen reviews about hot cookies we never got offered any. The room was clean and what you expect, the air con unit was bit finicky and had a mind of its own. Breakfast was the biggest let down of this hotel and probably one of the worst I’ve ever had. We went down in the morning for breakfast and it was really busy, there was no one greeting at the door so we walked in to be seated, and found a table that had just been empty so the server cleared it for us whilst we waited. The staff were friendly but seemed rushed off their feet and understaffed perhaps?. Once we got seated we went up to get some food, they don’t seem to replenish things quick enough and they ran out of a lot of things whilst we was there and it took them a long time to replenish so had a bit of wait to get everything wanted. I understand when you get the busier periods things will go quickly but if they monitor the levels better and get them cooked and out it’ll make this less of a problem. A lot of the food we had was lukewarm/cold and I also found a hair in the mushrooms. It was however good to see fried bread this was a nice addition. The toast machine seems to not be in the most ideal place, it seemed to hold everyone up as we all know they’re not the fastest to toast bread. It could do with being somewhere else to not disrupt the flow near the hot food. The water ran out several times and took ages to be filled up even after asking staff (not there fault they were rushed off there feet). The orange juice dispenser kept getting blocked because it wasn’t the right dispenser for orange juice with pulp in which kept blocking the nozzle. A lot of people just gave up until staff brought some jugs out to make it easier. I really just wouldn’t bother with breakfast here, I’d go somewhere else as there’s plenty of nice cafes in Stratford. It seems that others have similar complaints and get told thanks for the feedback and they’ll take it on board but this clearly is just a response with no attempt to change since clearly nothing has been done to rectify or improve. When checking out they tried to charge us again for the rooms, mistakes happen but it turned out to be a bit of a faff. We waited a little bit to checkout as there were a few people waiting to checkout also, they were asked how there stay was and chatted to them a bit, got to us and we weren’t asked and seemed like the attitude changed, for what reason I don’t know. It wouldn’t been nice to have an equal experience between hotel guests. Left us feeling like we couldn’t raise any issues we had in person as we felt there was a lack of care. Be nice for some money back for the shambles of a breakfast but hotels really don’t like doing refunds. Considering this is run by Hilton I’d expect way better, budget hotels would put this one to shame. Would stay somewhere else next time I...
Read moreI’m currently staying here for 2 nights and as I’m writing this review I’m shocked and appalled by everything I’ve seen since checking in. We have a 16 month old and even though I phoned the hotel a week prior to give them a heads up that we required a cot in our room one wasn’t in our room when we arrived. House keeping eventually brought one up but it didn’t come with a mattress. They do not supply mattresses so our baby will have to sleep on a hard base with blankets acting as a mattress. I have never come across this before. I’ve stopped in other Hilton’s and never had this issue. The room was also disgusting, littered with debris and hairs. We eventually got moved to another room which was a bit better. We decided to eat in the restaurant as we were too tired to go venturing out and about after a long journey and we were told that a high chair would be set up ready for us in the lounge….. it wasn’t. The high chair (that eventually came) was grim and looked like it had been pulled out of a skip. It wasn’t fit for purpose and didn’t secure our little one into a safe upright position for eating. We asked for some baby food to be warmed up which also created an argument with the manager. I understand this is a contentious issue with food standards etc…. But at the very least provide an alternative like a children’s menu?! The service I have the received is THE worst I’ve ever received in my life. I’ve stayed in hostels in Vietnam and Cambodia that were better than this. This place is definitely not up to normal Hilton standards. We paid for a deluxe room and had to request bathrobes and slippers twice as there was none in our room at all. They should come standard in deluxe rooms. You do not get the normal warm cookie check in either like you do in other Hilton hotels. There was a service hatch in our room that our daughter managed to open as there is no lock on it and the door doesn’t close this cupboard/hatch so it is permanently open. It had pipes, cables and fibreglass insulation in it (not baby friendly). It’s a massive health and safety issue. They were very keen in the restaurant regarding health and safety when reheating baby food, shame they haven’t got the same approach with the rooms. This hotel is sub standard at best. It needs major money pumping into it and the management also need retraining in customer service. We spoke to other less senior members of staff who were more helpful and they disclosed awful working conditions to us. Hilton hotels should be ashamed of this hotel. An inspection from head office is clearly needed as soon as possible. Our stay has been that dire we are not going to stay for our scheduled two nights. What an utter disappointment this has been. Do not stay here and waste your money and time and especially if you have children do not stay here they are not catered to at all....
Read moreEverything here averaged out to an okay experience. Some things were great and some need much imporement. Great ... the checkin staff and process were great. It went through smoothly. Our family had three rooms and the staff even emailed ahead of time to see if we needed our rooms to be close. I dropped the family off at the door and by the time I parked and went inside, my wife had all three room keys. Checking out was just as easy and the staff let us keep our vehicle there while we walked around the beautiful town. Unfortunately, some times were really lacking. First, the bed mattress is very outdated. The springs were worn and sunk in as well as leaning towards the edge. It was not great on the back. It was also very loud from rotting wood on the mattress frame. It's long past due for replacement. And since the primary reason for a hotel is to sleep, this made for a huge miss on the scale. Next, the food in the hotel restaurant was AWFUL, but unfortunately matched the service level. For dinner the floor was almost empty. One group of 15 were in there alone. But rather than seat us, we were told we would have to wait 15 minutes at the bar. In other words, they were unable to help more than one table. We did have a couple appetizers that were good, but the main courses were terrible. The chicken burger was chewy. My wife had a caesar salad with whole anchovies in it. My burger was slightly undercooked (but tolerable), however it has no seasoning at all. I asked for some ice for my beverage and was told I would have to go to the bar next to the restaurant. However, I left 5 minutes later without ice because the bartender was no where to be found. I'm in a restaurant. I should not have to leave to go get ice. Breakfast the next morning was lacking too as staff was unable to keep the food options filled. The eggs served was sunnyside up, so if you don't want runny eggs, too bad. My daughter came into the breakfast late and ate half my bran muffin. At which point the host came back to ask if her breakfast should be added to her room or mine ... $25 for half a muffin.
The hotel is conveniently located, but you can probably get a better...
