A very fine old building situated at corner of Sunnyside and Toward Road in City centre. Used to be called Yates. Mainly on ground floor and handy for accessibility with toilet facilities for those of us who cannot handle stairs. Plenty of seating. I tend to find far end from bar does tend to get a bit crowded at weekends and on match nights but nevertheless it ideal afternoons. Parking space for 3/4 cars right outside for mobility card holders. Opposite Sunderland Museum so handy for a visit there. I tend to go there in afternoons when not too busy. That corner is at a busy junction but handy for .ost city centre busses and the Metro station is a mere 100 metres away so budding Allan Wells youths can race their mates to see who wins and doesn't buy the first round! They have two pool tables furthest away from the bar which some wouldn't like as one often as to watch when people are playing as a bit tight near tables. Be that s it may therefore are plenty of pleasant seating places a little quieter. I didn't notice any catering being done so o presume only snacks available. Prices are very reasonable as their nearest competitor across the street is a Wetherspoons, although the spirits are a bit pricey...

Read moreIt was a busy day we visited this pub in Sunderland just opposite The Winter Gardens. A packed pub shame that on my visit they were short staffed even the manager working the kitchen and serving as well as clearing tables on the way back. The old adage never come back empty handed. Friendly staff when they had the chance to breathe a credit to the Manager and Company. My only but is that Disabled toilets were for all to use and in a bit of a state by the time I got to use it. Previous occupants being women for the previous hour nearly. Shame they couldn't use the downstairs...
