One of the neatest little places I've found since moving to Sunderland a year ago. This is just a fantastic all round place. Me and my Girlfriend popped into this Café the other day, and returned for breakfast this morning.
Firstly, the atmosphere is one of the most chill environments in the City. It almost feels like a UK take on an American Diner meets traditional Café. The place is currently decorated top to bottom with Halloween decorations. The music choices seems to be oldies but goodies, and it just adds to the whole vibe they have going on.
They have a selection of your standard coffee varieties, an array of syrups (I highly recommend the honeycomb syrup), a selection of food and deserts, a choice of various Storm Tea blends which I'm looking forward to returning and trying, and a breakfast menu before 11am. Pictures are of a Hot Chocolate and Espresso, Beans on Toast, and Bacon Sandwich, although my personal favourite so far is the Iced Latte.
The price seems a little high at first. In total for 3 drinks and 2 breakfast items we were looking at over £20. But it's really worth it. I'm no coffee connoisseur, but I tend to favour Lattes with Syrup and Sugar, yet I sat and enjoyed an espresso, so it must be good. More expensive than a McCafé or a Costa, but you pay for what you get. Amazing AMAZING coffee. Secondly, even though my girlfriend ended up full midway through her beans on toast, the food items aren't going to leave you stuffed if you're used to eating large portions. But it's really good for a tasty light breakfast, but I was left a little hungry after my bacon sandwich and half of my girlfriend's food. Definitely worth the money all round.
The staff seem really friendly, the place is squeaky clean. Hell, our table was cleared as we stood up to leave? All in all, exactly what you should look for in a café. We'll definitely be returning, although as full time students with little money, this will definitely be more of a treat than a common occurrence. But if I had the money, I'd get breakfast and coffee here every morning. For a place only open I think for about a year, this is amazing. I have...
Read moreWell. This is one of those places you don't tell everyone about. This is cool and comfortable. The Carrot cake, I'd fight you for. (Photo) It looks and smells like home cooking in here. I had the Beetroot Latte. It may sound a bit pretentious to some. But Beetroot anything is great for me I love it. The place is clean and tidy and it is family run with daughters helping mums'. Incidentally the Beetroot Latte was really tasty that special beetroot earthy taste.
I reckon if you're in the City for something classy before you go to the football or a wander into the Theatre or to any of the many events nearby. This will more than do you. Pop in for a good quality cup of coffee. Or Tea they have around eight different types and understand them. So great for a cuppa Tea. The atmosphere is settled and sound in here. No traffic noise or other people thrashing their cutlery about. The seating is comfortable and there are no machines bleeping and whirring around like is so many places. The staff listen and are confident they can meet your...
Read moreVisited with my Brother for lunch today. Was sadly very disappointed. Felt very uncomfortable and unwanted. For the whole time we were there. I guess our faces didn't fit or we weren't their class or weren't regulars. My Brother who is Autistic was very upset at the attitude we were met with. Staff stared at us as if we were about to rob the place, this staring continued the whole time. I noted other customers were given a lot better service. I would say unless you look young, trendy or with the 'it' crowd don't bother plenty of other places.
The card machine is problematic so use cash.
The food and coffee is nice. Toilets are clean. Unfortunately we were there just after Midday and were running out of things.
Because of the staffs attitude and being constantly watched, I would not recommend and we...
