I would just like bring to your attention the service and food we received today 20th February 2025 at the Rosedene pub in Sunderland.
We arrived for lunch at 12.20pm, placed our order for a table of 4, 3 cooked breakfasts and 1 chips and onion rings.
Food arrived 1 plate at a time, was just chucked on the table no conversation to ask who's food it was she just put it down and walked away, and went to clear another table left us waiting again, she then came back with another 1 plate only, we asked why we weren't getting all our food together she said in a very rude attitude this is just how it comes and what's been made, we again waited 10 mins for the rest of the food to come with items missing, I asked again when will the tea and toast arrive with ordered with our breakfast she just looked and walked way and rolled her eyes this was very rude.
I again had to ask, she came back with tea and then went away by this time our meals we cold as we were waiting for all items to arrive.
The food was cold and not very appetising, the onions rings tasted like garlic not sure what they had been cooked in but weren't very nice at all and the burnt toast eventually arrived when all we had eaten our cold breakfast. We also order chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream this took 30 minutes to arrive after asking again when will our desert be here. It arrived and the ice cream was not vanilla it was coconut absolutely disgusting and not what we ordered and was not informed of this prior.
When asked where all the staff were the Barmaid said there's only ever 2 members of staff working and she was not the manager, this is shocking as the pub was so busy with customers.
The waitress attitude and poor quality of food has let us down today.
I feel this needs to be mentioned to the staff and have some form of customer service training. This wasn't just our table this happened to we also witness this to other...

Read moreDisappointing food and service. Visited for lunch today after The Rosedene’s reopening. First impressions were good, spruced-up decor yet retaining familiar, cosy atmosphere. No problem at the bar, bar staff as efficient and friendly as always. Then, our meal came out….no egg nor onion rings (as menu states) with my mixed grill. Wife’s side order of cheesy chips delivered (at the same time as my meal) a good 5 mins before her main…cheesy very questionable, maybe 3 strands of grated cheese?? Her main appeared with my peppered sauce, which barely covered the base of a very small jug. I dared to ask for my egg, onion rings…and a reasonable amount of peppered sauce….duly delivered with a rather curt (putting it lightly!) “message from Head Chef” via our server that the amount of peppered sauce originally given is the standard amount, no apology for the missing egg nor onion rings. We asked for all omitted/substandard items politely, so from a customer service point of view, no need for Head Chef / Server to pass back irritated messages to us…we know what it’s like to perceive we’re being criticised at work (I use that word thinking from their perspective) but we were only asking for what we had ordered and don’t expect a retort in return. We complained to the manager who was apologetic and assured us he’d speak to the kitchen staff and server….so let’s hope that it’s carried out and food, attitudes and customer service improves. Otherwise, it’ll be a shame if such a great pub serving food, that we’ve visited for a good 30 years, is let down by...
