We had a fabulous time and lunch here for my mother in law's birthday. We did reserve a table for 1PM which was wise given how busy it was. We ordered 2x fish and chips, onion rings, potato skins and 1portion of mussels. The fish was huge but beautifully cooked, the chips were golden brown and chunky and it came with mushy peas and tartar sauce. My wife said her mussels were delicious. There was a nice selection of homemade cakes desserts and scones. We order the lemon drizzle for the birthday girl and the staff put a little candle on it. It was also delicious. The wine and beers were good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I wouldn't recommend that place! I have been there a few times and I always found it a bit expensive but I liked the location and the views so I always came back there..till now! Last time I went there I ordered a cappuccino and avocado toast...what a big mistake.. the cappuccino tasted really really bad! And then I waited one hour for my toast ... and when I was finally being served ... I god only 2 small slices of bread with avocado on top with some spices! It was a sandwich not a TOAST! Not to mention I wanted one hour and the waitress did not even apologise. Plus the toast was more than £7..£7 for 2 small slices of bread with avocado and spices on top.. The photos are from other times I have been there!

Stopped here after searching for a gluten-free place in Seaburn, lovely independent café the proprietor or manager was really friendly and helpful. Managed to bag a gluten-free vegan cake to go! How rare and exciting! Also almond milk flat white which was delicious. They also do gluten-free food options I've had a fish finger sandwich. Hassle free heaven!

Sunday lunch service was absolutely shocking.

Booked for 1:30 and stood at the door waiting to be seated until 1:40 even though our table was ready. Waitress came and took our drinks orders and we asked for some time to decide on our food, less than a minute later another waiter came order to take our order, complete lack of communication.

Food came in good timing, but again the service let them down to the point we had to go to the bar to hand them a plate so we had room on our table, even when 3 people had been to the tables either side of us and we were ignored.

Small portions of veg and dry meat, the "red wine" jus was basically standard gravy, not once were we asked if anything was OK with the food.

Waited over 20mins from finishing our food to see if our table was going to be cleared and if we were even going to be offered a dessert however each of the members of staff walked past our table more than 3 times and each time turned their backs on us. So we got up went to the bar, paid and left.

Hugely disappointed after hearing...

We often pop in here every other week sometimes for breakfast other times for bite to eat, always delicious and service second to none. However we came on sunday for a sunday lunch how disappointed were we, we waited almost 20mins before we had to ask for drinks. We then ordered 4 beef dinners which came with 1 small plate of vegetables between 4, when we finally got some service we were merely told in a offish manner that we would have to ask for more vegetables this wasnt explained when ordering. The service was very poor apart from the young girl whos first day it was, bless her she was trying her upmost to be helpful. The table next to ours was 8/9 ladies who were having tea and prosecco the staff were all over them like a rash offering them this and that and popping over every few minutes to ask if everything was fine. Not once were we asked if our meal was fine. All your customers should be treat the same should they not, very disappointed as we have never encountered any...

Will not be returning. Went with me mother who wanted to treat me with a voucher she received for her 70th birthday as a present. Her birthday was in September and we only got chance to come to the cafe today (6th April), after have twins you just don’t have the time. At the point of paying my mam took the voucher out of the envelope which she had received it in only to discover that the voucher was only valid for 6months. A totally genuine mistake. The faceless manager refused to accept the voucher as it would mess up the books as they write off (click more likely) the cash paid for vouchers that aren’t used. Totally shocked and appalled by this.. I mean who would do this to a 70 year old lady and what place only has vouchers valid for 6 months? The whole experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth and I will be telling all about the rubbish customer...
