Seaburn Beach — Attraction in Sunderland

Roker Beach has taken a long time for the City to get it where it wants it. It is far too easy to pick fault with the City Council personally I think it is unfair. Various government has cut the standard spending assessment year on year Sunderland has faced brutal and vindictive nasty cuts from a broken Conservative Party. One minister even commented Sunderland should be shut down and handed to Durham and South Shields I think... No matter year on year the City has kept to its arduous task of bringing economic sustainabile development to the Sea Front. And I have to tell you they have been doing a fantastic job of it. To visit Roker at the weekend during the day and the evening and to see so many people filing the beautiful new spaces and places to seat, drink and be happy. The place was buzzing with positivity at the weekend people buying food and drink and entertaining thier families, dog walkers getting the joy out of their loved pets who love the beach and the water. There are no go zones for dogs and a specific dog friendly area for folk to walk their dogs. Young, old, colourful and beige were all here. And Queens Cafe on the crossroads has been in the same family for an age. They just do the best ever chips and fish. They use dripping to cook the chips and they are beautiful. I can't recommend Queens enough. Its next door neighbour has a good food offer but the chips just aren't the same. Not for me. If you are in the North East come along to Roker get the metro to Seaburn come out of the metro station and head East (turn left at the end of the metro walkway) You will find, as it says. Sunderland is full of surprises... I will add photos this coming weekend and update...

Sunderland Air Show this year was blighted by bad weather, ateast on the Saturday and Sunday which I attended. There wasn't much rain however the visibility for the pilots was poor so there wasn't too much to display. What we did see was great but unfortunately the mist was too much. However that did not stop all the other tents and entertainment. The Air Show itself is more than just a display, and with armoured vehicles, helicopters, weapons and loads of other stuff too see and do there was plenty to keep the masses entertained. Personally my highlight was the performance from Sophie Ellis Bextor...

beautiful beach but they need to get stricter control on the animals allowed as there was four untrained horses there today with children riding them and many people had picked up that they appeared untrained/dangerous. then two off leash dogs tried to bark at the horse and got near it and some nice boys tired to remove the dogs. However the horse spooked and charged toward me actually ending in my foot being trampled by the horse. Amazing lifeguard service and all the people around were so helpful but just not fair that this happened in...
