Queens Cafe — Restaurant in Sunderland

Fish battered well, chips cooked properly and the best curry sauce we've had. The fish sizes were variable and we got one small one and two reasonable ones. We'll give it another go though.

The signs about the no public toilets are confusing as there is actually a toilet for customers, and one man was a bit gruff with my mam till he realised we were customers sitting outside. These Signs are a bit off putting in general as they are quite... Aggressive. Guess they had a problem with people using their toilets, but saying toilets are for customers would be a fair and nicer way of getting the message across.

This place has better tasting chips than the next door chippy... It's a classic proper fish and chips with mushy peas in here with bread and butter. Then there's tea coffee and a selection of cakes... They also have a great ice-cream treat here of the Mr Whippy kind. They do a huge double top special. The best fish and chips in the area by far. Always consistently perfectly cooked. The chips are cooked perfectly in beef dripping I think that's what makes the difference and the fish is always fresh. In addition to being a takeaway there is a spacious, comfortable cafe area. The staff are great and are very helpful and welcoming.
