£7.35 for a bacon and mushroom sandwich and a americano! I went in to try funky beach cafe as I was shopping nearby. There was only breakfast sandwiches on the menu. No breakfasts as advertised. They had a special that reads "bacon, sausage and egg sandwich and a hot drink £4.95" on the board. When I went in to order it they said "that would be a good deal" Not really? It's only a bit bacon an egg and a sausage in a bun? After the shock I asked for a bacon and mushroom sandwich and a coffee. They said "it not in the deal". I said I'll go with it and they started cooking it and told me it was £7.35. So it works out it's £2.40 for mushrooms!!! I thought it would be a quid if a bacon sandwich and coffee was £4.95 I paid expecting an amazing sandwich for the price, but it was just some cheap bacon and mushrooms in a bun like everywhere else for a lot more money. I felt like I had been scammed and asked Auditing Sunderland to put up my review. One thing that was great was the lovely view of the sea.

Funky Beach is a little gem on the promenade of Seaburn. It's nothing fancy and it isn't trying to be. I didnt eat on this particular occasion but I seen some of the food being sent out to very happy patrons. It is very affordable, only being 9 pounds for a full English and the flat white was particularly good. Also shout out to the staff who seem lovely. I'll be back as I only work down the road.

Great friendly place We stopped off after a walk along the beach. The Funky Beach Cafe was busy but managed to get a seat inside. I ordered the standard breakfast and the wife ordered poached eggs on toast which was served quickly and hot which both of us enjoyed with a lovely over looking the Beach. The staff where hard working and friendly and a credit to the Funky Beach Cafe.

Older blonde woman handing out the orders is extremely rude. Basically told me to go away while I was waiting for a drink she missed off our order (I was waiting there because I thought she was getting it as she gave me the other three drinks) then handed me a lukewarm drink from the side that I think was from an old order no one collected as it wasn’t hot and had milk in it which I hadn’t asked for. We also ordered scones, cups of water, two breakfasts and a panini. One of the breakfast orders came out wrong and the panini box had 3 short black hairs in it, we didn’t even bother telling the woman hading out the order since she was so rude and didn’t think she’d do anything about it. The scones still weren’t ready after our cooked food was out and when we asked the woman about it she sighed and handed over two cups of water which were already sitting in the kitchen ( why not just hand them to us when we were getting our first 4 drinks or our breakfasts?). The scones came out 5 minutes later and all they had done was put them onto a plate with butter and jam. Honestly wouldn’t have minded the wait for the food or the mistake with the breakfast if the woman shouting out the orders wasn’t so rude towards us. Having to listen out for someone screaming out an order number isn’t great considering the price of the food especially when the woman calling it out is rude and won’t let you wait for your order within earshot of her (even though it was literally just me and one other woman standing there- I wasn’t...

I visited this cafe with one of my students who has special educational needs. I was absolutely appalled at the attitudes of the staff towards my student and us, as adequately trained staff members. My student was calm and regulated looking at a sign inside of the cafe that she was interested in after purchasing an ice cream. She was not handling this in an inappropriate manner and her teachers were watching her closely to make sure of this. The two staff members within the cafe eye rolled to each other and in a rude manner proceeded to tell us ‘watch that sign we need to for our ice cream machine, it’s new’. It was not so much the statement she said, but the attitude and lack of respect we were met with. This then proceeded for my student to become slightly distressed and throw the sign back onto the ice cream machine. There were no other members of public around her and she was in a wheelchair. We understand, monitor and teach the students to handle things with respect and care if it does not belong to us- My student understood this well before she got upset with the demand from the cafe worker. We do not ask or expect any special treatment. However, a little bit of patience, respect and understanding is never too much to ask for from anyone.. Especially children with special educational needs who understand the world a little bit...
