Read moreDisappointing Restaurant! We were walking past and thought we'd try this restaurant and staff were friendly. First thing I noticed was even though we're past nearly all social distancing measures, all the customers were seated close together although there were other tables free downstairs and whole of mezzanine floor. I don't understand why they couldn't spread everyone out? Staff members were also getting close to my face when talking so I think they should have still worn masks, at least when taking orders and coming close to customers. Although we were given menus straight away, it was a while before the drinks orders were taken, I had to flag the waiter down. The food was disappointing and I'll explain. We had Calamari and the Prawns starter followed by the grill platter and seabass. Portions are generally small. You get 4 prawns with the prawn starter but it was very delicious. The seabass was just two dry fillets so that wasn't as expected and I don't think how it should be - seabass is usually served whole. The fillets could have been any fish. There was no sauce or chutney/salsa to go with it so not pleasant to eat as it was dry. It comes with Chips which looked like the very cheap chips from Costco - I saw the bag when the chef was cooking it. The platter had small portions - There were just 2 chops and the ribs had no meat on them at all. Taste wise nothing amazing and disappointing but the Chicken wings were very nice. So comparing it to other Turkish and Mediterranean restaurants in Woking and Basingstoke, this restaurant was disappointing and pricey so won't be...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews ( honestly I’m not sure how people find the the time). In this case however, I felt something really should be said. Firstly, the food was average at best, especially for the price. Having lived in London for many years and Birmingham recently I have visited many Turkish restaurants which have been far superior. But where this restaurant truly fell short was the service. Absolutely appalling. Our reservation was at 7pm. The food arrived at 8:30pm. Around 8pm, my dad went to ask Zen (initially took our order) where our food was, instead of apologising even once, he immediately became defensive, stating rudely that they were really busy and claiming we had only been waiting 20mins… (our reservation being at 7pm I’m not sure where this maths came from). However during this time another waiter had come to our table (I wish I had taken his name as he was the only polite member of staff we encountered) to apologise and inform us that there has been a mix up which caused the delay and the food would be out shortly. The mix up is not a problem, it happens, but why Zen felt it was so difficult to admit the mistake and apologise is puzzling. I am not sure why our family was treated differently given all the good reviews here. I have never experience such poor customer service anywhere, and it put me of ordering dessert and Turkish coffee (no place has achieved that before) because I just wanted to leave. Safe to say this restaurant is one I will never recommend to anyone on due to the average and overpriced food as well the far far below...
